The Noblesville Arsenal, also known as the Noblesville Arsenal Ammunition Plant was a munitions plant in Noblesville, Indiana that produced firearms and ammunition from 1873 until it closed in 1998. The plant was located on the campus of Purdue University. The first guns made at the Noblesville Arsenal were small percussion weapons used by local militia units. By 1875, the arsenal had produced rifles and pistols for military use and to supply both Indiana's state militias and other organizations throughout the Midwest. In 1898, when America became a republic, the government passed an act which closed all gun factories in America due to their manufacturing of arms for foreign countries. However, because Purdue University still owned part of the site, it reopened as an ammunition plant under new management in 1899. During World War II (1939-1945), many industries were moved to nearby Muncie after its city was bombed by Nazi Germany. The munitions plants there continued producing arms until they too were closed by American forces in 1945. The closure ofNoblesville Arsenal marked a significant end to its long history as a center for firearms production in Indiana; however, it has been reactivated periodically since then as smaller companies have relocated to nearby towns and villages around Indianapolis for various reasons including resurgence of interest in firearm manufacturing within central Indiana

In 1815, James Noble bought an acreage adjacent to where Third Street now intersects Northwest Drive for $10 per acre (the equivalent of $146 today). By 1830, James Noble had built two large houses: One on North Main Street near where First Avenue meets Northwest Drive and another on State Road 68 just north of downtown Noblesville. In 1831, James Noble married Katherine Sellers and named his new home "NOBLEVILLE." By 1840, both James Noble and Katherine were dead but their names live on through their children: John Noble (1841-1924), Andrew Noble (1843-1926), Anna Elizabeth Noble (1845-1927)and Nathaniel Augustus Edward House (1848-1935). From these four parents came 23 grandchildren including future Vice President Joe Biden Sr.. In 1851 when Mary Jane Heitkamp married Samuel posthumously from Germany she also became Mary Jane 'Maj' Heitkamp after her father's death in 1850 leaving no children behind him to take his place among equals within German American society like his father before him did. Wilkinson renamed the area Noblesville Township and developed it into a small town with a population of about 60 people in 1835. In 1839, Majestic Theatre opened as the first theater in Noblesville and remained open until 1922 when it closed due to financial problems.
