James Kresge from Indianapolis; he also served as president and CEO of Hensley Paper Company from 1978 to 1992. In March 2007, local officials announced plans to create a new school district with 434 students located within 3 miles (5 km) of Old Main Elementary School near downtown; this would be the largest school district in Johnson County by enrollment size ().
