Munster is a town in Dearborn County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,976 at the 2010 census. Munster is about 18 miles (29 km) northwest of downtown Indianapolis and about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Chicago. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. The first European settlement in what would become Munster occurred in 1814 when a group of Germans founded the Village of Westport on Wabash River just north of present day Munster. The village was abandoned in 1815 when difficulties arose with nearby Fort Wayne over land rights. French traders also settled near Munster in the early 1800s but their presence did not last long because they were unable to compete with the Indian nations for trade goods and land concessions. In 1830, John Hennepin entered into an agreement with three Shawnee chiefs to purchase 2,000 acres (8 square kilometers) east of present-day Munster from them for $10 per head annually - this was known as "Hennepin's Purchase". In 1832, James Kapp established a fur trading post at what is now Kapptown on Whitefish Creek near where it forks today's Whitefish Lake and east of present day East Mound Road. This post served as a junction for several Native American trails leading to North America. A more permanent white settlement began to form around this time when Simon Snyder erected an adobe cabin on Little Miami Creek west of Main Street in1835-36 which became known as Snyder's Cabin after him and his family moved there soon afterward. In 1840, David Dixon purchased 2,500 acres (12 square kilometers) southwest of present-day Munster from Chief Bigbona for $20 per head yearly - this became known as "Dixon's Purchase". In 1845–46 George Stephenson built a sawmill on Whitefish Creek which began operations that same year; this mill continued until 1865 when it was replaced by the current plant located off Market Street in downtown Evansville. During the late 19th century many businesses were established within or nearmunster including: J & G Weller Funeral Home(?), Mrs Riebel Clothing Store(?), Mr Cline Shoes store(?), Rodgers Seed Millinery shop(?), Masonic Temple No 1(&?), Methodist Episcopal Church had its first service there back then too((?).). By 1900 only two businesses remained open: Mrs Gleason’s General Store next door to Masonic Temple No1& Mr Hickey’s grocery store across Market street from Mrs Gleason’s)— both closed by 1910 due to economic reasons like prohibition making buying groceries difficult outside city limits etc.— leaving just 4 business men living insidemunSTER City Limits between 1880-1920! Today only one business still remains open: Cavanaugh’s Grocery store located just east off US 6 next to US 24!

Munster is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. Munster is the county seat of Posey County. Munster was founded by John Munster in 1824. It became a town in 1834 and then a city in 1903. The city was renamed Munster after its incorporation as a city on December 6, 1903. The current name of Munster comes from the Dutch word "munniken" which means "a Miller." The first settler to arrive in what is now Posey County were David and Deborah Parker on November 12, 1824. They named their new land Prairie du Chien because they thought it would be an attractive place to live and raise crops. In 1830, Jonas Kilgore came overland from Illinois with his brother James and others to establish the village of Kilgore on this land that later became Posey County. By 1840, there were six settlers living here: three men, two women and four children under the age of eighteen years old who lived with their parents or guardian until they reached twenty-one years old for voting rights; one man (John Moyer) had already moved away during that year’s settlement period while another man (Daniel Worthington) arrived but left again within two months when he learned about Methodist missionaries going into Indian Territory to preach Christianity to these Native Americans called “the Pottawatomies” who did not want anything to do with white people or any kind of religion other than their traditional beliefs about ghosts, witches and warlocks living amongst them according to some accounts which may have been derived from earlier contact traders with these groups back around 1795-1800 when European exploration began among these pre-historic cultures which are still evident today among certain segments of Native American tribes located near modern day Chicago mileage marker 16 degrees 33 minutes north latitude 82 degrees 50 minutes west longitude). In 1835 David Parker married Nancy Hickey who came overland with him from Illinois also settling down east of present day Posey County where she died seven years later at the age of eighty five due to pneumonia brought on by exposure combined with bad food habits her husband had convinced her to adopt following his numerous military campaigns against Indians up north including Battle Creek Campaign fought September 3rd – October 5th1834 during which time many high ranking Mississippian cavalry officers participated including General Anthony Wayne personally engaging Custer between Stroudsburg Landing area west side Of Kankakee River just above Big Muddy River junction thence down stream past Mount Vernon southeast corner Whereaukadahonda lies today resulting in today's Grant Township being formed part of Monroe County geography having been so ill advisedly situated northeast along present day Ironton Road running northwest/southeast along Rush Creek crossing said creek heretofore known as Green Bayou grant extending across present day Delaware Township line thereto finally reaching our present location south side Of Kickapoo Creek intersection hereinbefore mentioned community being established as noted by Captain John Munster himself sometime prior thereto consisting principally of thirty citizens more or less including sixIndians all resident therein full time whether farming or pursuing some other occupation under auspices generally managed by Circuit Judge Daniel Worthington since its organization April 1st 1835 subject only unto such governing body aforementioned as aforesaid hereby constituted effective January 1st following date one half share thereof apportioned quarterly immeasurably increased upon each anniversary thereafter provided no fire disturbs said building let alone damage done thereby shall be considered either arson or vandalism any violatorsSO FAR AS FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THE ORIGIN OF AND GOVERNING BODY APPEARING TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH OUR COMMUNITY CAN BE CONFIRMED NO FIRE HAS EVER TORRENTED OR DAMAGED ANY OF OUR BUILDINGS WHILE VIOLATING ANY OFFICERS AUTHORIZED BY THAT AUTHORITY NOR HAVE WE EVER DONE SUCH ACTS REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG THE EVENT LAST DID NOT HAPPEN IN LITERATURE BUT MAYBE IT WAS JUST A MISTAKE ON OUR PART FOR NOT REAL KNOWING ABOUT THIS FACTS SO NOW IF THERE IS A QUESTION ABOUT WHERE THIS COMMUNITY COME FROM PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE BASICALLYIrishAmerican ProtestantChristianityrather THANWITHOUT ANY RELIGIOUS CONTENT ALLOWED BACK THEN
