Muncie is a town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. Muncie is the second most populous city in Indiana after Indianapolis and the most populous city east of Chicago. Muncie was founded by Potawatomi Indians in 1795 and incorporated as a village on December 11, 1824. From 1831 to 1865, it was one of six townships in Stroudsburg Township, which became Muncie after it merged with other townships on April 1, 1865. On January 1, 1907, it became a city under the name of "Muncie". The Potawatomi were forcibly removed from their land near Muncie by colonists and relocated to what is now eastern Illinois in 1800. Some potawatomi remained behind until they were forced out of their land by the U.S. Army during the Indian Wars of 1810-1812. In 1795, some Potawatomi men led by Chief Sekaniyama went into search for new land to settle due to concerns about food supplies that had become available on nearby Shawnee missions farther south. They found part of what would eventually become Muncie while exploring Canandaigua Creek near present-day Uniontown; Sekaniyama named this tract "Muncie". A few weeks later, they Returned home with news that they had found more land and organized themselves into a party to survey it themselves before returning home again early that year because they did not want any hostile encounters with Native Americans going forward (they may have encountered local Creek people while surveying their new lands). After further exploration over several months and conferring with leaders from other parts of Indiana affecting potential locations for a town site – including Bloomington – they decided against moving forward with plans to establish a town but returned home on July 15th after finding enough suitable sites elsewhere within three days’ travel distance (the group also discovered two small streams which would later be developed into Monmouth/Uniontown Reservoir). On February 3rd 1830., commissioners appointed by General George Rogers Clark laid out streets grid map boundaries for what would ultimately become Muncie when he arrived in central Indiana as commander-in-chief of Indian Affairs Department (later renamed War Department) during the Northwest Territory era; this included Townsite #1 north side east corner 2nd Street & 3rd Avenue NE In 1825 when first settlement permit applications were being accepted from individuals looking to set up business or build residences west side Nice Road between Third & Fourth Streets NW these applications reached Sir John Wood's house where he lived at 24 Nice Road NW then his son James Wood House where his niece married Capt David Porter who lived there then Mrs Sarah Porter living there then finally her husband Nathaniel Porter house standing today located just east off Main Street just past junction street line& across Walmart parking lot

This made muni-cleia very convenient for businesses and people traveling between different states. Additionally, muni-cleia served as a base from which troops could be recruited during wars with neighboring countries such as Canada or Mexico. In 1892, John Waddell moved from Chicago to join his father-in-law Josh Waddell as part of a group that purchased 2 million acres (8 km2) around what is now Muncie from Elijah Craig Jr., founder of American Paper Company. This purchase created what is known today as The Waddells tract development which includes over 200 business parks along with 1 million square feet (100 m2) of office space. Despite this growth, muni-cleia would only reach its peak popularity in 1925 when it hosted attendance at both President Calvin Coolidge’s inauguration ball and World Series baseball game between Cleveland Indians versus Boston Americans . However, even during these high points there were some key challenges faced by municleeians such as increasing poverty rates among residents due to lack of affordable housing; increased traffic caused by businesses seeking easy access to Interstate 65;and advancements in technology making life more difficult for factory workers who could no longer commute into downtown Muncie.(1) Today's economy is based largely on manufacturing but many aspects still rely heavily upon services provided by local companies like Apple Inc., Ford Motor Company (US), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Magna Carta University(MCU), Purdue Pharma LP (Purdue Pharma Group plc)), Kingfisher Airlines Limited (), Cedar Rapids Utilities Corporation () and others
