As more residents moved into this area over time they began to call their community "Moorestown." On July 1, 1955, part of Monongalia County joined with neighboring Union Township to form newMonongalia County. This change resulted in Moose Valley being annexed by moorestown as well as most of monongalia county eastward to US 421 and southward to State Road 362; however much remain within moorestown limits today including some neighborhoods near High School which still retains its original name - old moorestown . Although annexation never took place all that far into unincorporated Posey Township there are several blocks north/south between High School andMOORESTOWN along SR 362 called "Old Moose Valley" which is where most people living today originally lived before moving into larger communities such as Clinton or La Porte

Mooresville is a small town located in Union County, Indiana. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. Mooresville was founded in 1836 and named for General John C. Moore, who served as United States Army lieutenant colonel in the Indian Wars. The first post office operated in Mooresville from December 1837 to March 1840. The community had a total population of only eight residents when it incorporated as a village on November 15, 1859. In 1870, the village had a population of 350 and by 1890 it had increased to 1,500 people. The growth of Mooresville was due to its location within easy access to both West Lafayette and Indianapolis; as well as its proximity to other agricultural towns such as Peru and Dearborn Heights which provided jobs for the town’s growing population. Additionally, Mooresville developed into an important transportation hub with its own railroad station and riverboat landing. By 1936, the town had acquired over 20 businesses including five lumberyards, four grocery stores, two banks, three churches and two schools. With its good economic prospects and expanding infrastructure, Mooresville continued to grow through the years becoming one of Union County’s most successful communities during the late 19th century. During World War II many local men enlisted in the military; resulting in an increase in population by more than 400%. As war efforts intensified throughout Europe,[1] demand for goods available at home grew so too did prices for food items reaching unprecedented levels.[2] This high demand caused prices for goods sold outside ofMoorestownand led to significant job losses for local farmers who were no longer able to compete with foreign suppliers.[3] Conversely however, manyMoorestowniansVolunteeredinthe war effort helpingto bring about social change within their community[4],[5] which has been cited as one of the most important factors leading to postwar stability in MooresVILLE
Moresville was founded in 1847 by James Moores and his wife Elizabeth. The village began as a small settlement on the banks of the White River. In 1850, it became the town of Mooresville. In 1858, the town was divided into two parts, and the population of Mooresville proper increased to 140 people. The townsite dissolved in 1861 when both parts were annexed by Terre Haute.
