Reverend JF McClendon officiated from then until his death in 1988; thereafter Drs Alvin Fenton and Julius Eller became pastor/teacher at First Presbyterian Church which still meets there today with a congregation totaling about 260 members including children’s choir outreach program led by Mrs Lisa Dickey The growth of heavy industry during World War II caused many businesses to close or move out of Mooresville; however one business that stayed open throughout the war was Wm Kincaid’s grocery store which reopened after the war shut down due to lack of customers or competition from other stores within town limits (Mooresville had no zoning restrictions against businesses opening up again). In fact Kincaid’s continued operations into the 1970s were so successful that he eventually bought out his competitor and remains a fixture within town limits to this day serving both retail customers and occasional catering functions for events such as Fourth Of July fireworks displays etc.). After World War II there were few new development opportunities for MooresVILLE except for two large automobile dealerships which opened up along Griggs Roadhouse Avenue circa 1960-1961 each servicing over 100 cars per week but soon these businesses too closed down due to economic conditions changing rapidly outside of Evansville during those years . In recent history there have been several efforts made by various community organizations such as MOOREVILLAGE HISTORY SOCIETY OF ILLINOIS (founded 1967) , PRESENT DAY COMMUNITY CULTURE CENTER INC (founded 2006) – all dedicated specifically towards preserving moorevillage history & culture – numerous special interest groups have formed also resulting in increased visibility & support for moorevillage while also creating awareness among residents about their historical context . currently most visible effort being spearheaded by Stroudsburg Historical Society consisting of volunteer staff working closely with MOOREVILLAGE HISTORY SOCIETY OF ILLINOIS volunteers who are constantly updating & expanding our website www.moorevillagesociety.org
