Mooresville is a small town in Morgan County, Indiana, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. Mooresville is the county seat of Morgan County. The community was founded in 1831 by James Moore and his family. It was named for General Jonathan Fayette Moore, an American Revolutionary War general and delegate to the First Continental Congress. The first store in Mooresville was opened by Abraham Bicknell in 1832. A post office was established in Mooresville on July 6, 1833, and remained in operation until it was discontinued on December 31, 1907. In 1880, David Nance built the first hotel in Mooresville. The first schoolhouse in Mooresville was built in 1834 by Jeptha Hoadley and remains standing today as a public building used for classes and events throughout the year. In 1916, George Pappan purchased land east of Mooresville from John Lovejoy for $5 per acre (approximately ). Pappan began developing this land into what is now known as the Pappan Farms Estate area which includes much of downtownMooresville as well as many other important businesses and residences that still remain today including the former home of President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Rodham Clinton. The town motto has been "A Place Where Friends Meet" since its inception so citizens could come together to socialize or just have fun without having to worry about politics or world events happening outside their door

Mooresville is a small town in southwestern Indiana, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. Mooresville is part of the Fort Wayne–East castleton, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. It has been an agricultural community since its establishment in 1814. In 1872, Wm. H. Moore started a flour mill on the east side of town and by 1886 had produced over 1 million pounds of flour for local consumption and export to other states. In 1924, Wm. H. Moore's daughter Alice Fenton purchased the flour mill from her father and continued to operate it until her death in 1978. The mill closed after production ceased in 2007 due to budgetary reasons; however, parts of the structure remain extant as a museum today operated by Mooresville Community Foundation Incorporated and open to the public free of charge during regular business hours (except holidays). The first post office was established in Mooresville on January 6, 1814 with Amos Sibley as its first postmaster. By 1830, four churches had been built aroundmoorestown; one each for Presbyterian (1830), Methodist (1831), Baptist (1832), and Independents (1833). A gristmill was established about this time but did not begin producing flour until 1840 when John Bogan became owner/operator; it still stands today within moorestown limits along with several homes that were also built at this time including Mrs. Ethel Bogan's home which still stands today as well as MrSibley Mill which also still remains standing today). A store opened at what is now State Road 9 near Mooresville village center between 1900-1910 called Cook & Curry's store before moving to larger quarters next door at 901 N Main St between 1915-1920 then again at 920 N Main St from 1925-1935 before finally closing shop permanently at 1020 N Main St between 1935-1945 due to wartime restrictions on commerce along with many other businesses located within moorestown boundaries during those years such as Pritchett’s Lumber Store which operated right up until 1951 when it closed because of lack of demand for lumber following World War II; Smith’s gas station opened in 1950 northwest corner lot across from restaurant opening day promoting itself as “the first gasoline station west of the Alleghenies”
In 1812, John B. Mooresville was founded on the banks of the White River in what is now Mooresville, Indiana. The town was named for General James B. Moores, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as a U.S. Senator from Indiana. The first post office in town was established in 1814 and remained open until 1872. In 1840, the townsite of Mooresville was enlarged by adding land to the south side of the White River. The population of Mooresville increased rapidly after it became known as an agricultural center due to itslocation at one of three crossing points for travelers on the White River. By 1870, moorsvillians had built over 200 homes and businesses and were considered one of Indiana’s leading agricultural communities
