Mooresville is a small town in Hamilton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Mooresville was James Moore who moved from Ohio in 1814. He named his new home "Fayette Township." The town site was land grants to many pioneers and settlers. One grantee, John Pemberton, donated the right to build a courthouse and jail in Mooresville. In 1857, the town voted to change its name to Terre Haute after being chosen as the winner of a state contest that asked for namesakes for eleven different U.S. cities and towns. In 1905, Mooresville got its own post office which remained in operation until it was discontinued by mail on December 14th, 1915. In 1902-1903 there were two explosive devices detonated near Mooresville by anarchists Action Noire (an anarchist group) as part of a publicity stunt designed to rouse public opposition to lynching; one device exploded hours after detonation while another did not go off until later that day due to an electrical malfunction; both devices caused minor injuries but no fatalities

Mooresville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. It is the home of Mooresville College, one of the largest private colleges in Indiana. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. The first mention of Mooresville in local history can be traced back to 1802 when it was known as "Morganton." In 1807, the original location for Mooresville was moved from Morganton to what is now Mooresville because of the high demand for land in that area. The town's growth continued during the years until 1853 when a fire destroyed most of the businesses and homes in town. Reconstruction followed with many new businesses being opened and residents enjoying increased commerce and education opportunities thanks to Mooresville College which had been founded by Dr. Daniel Boone four years earlier. In 1871, due to increasing numbers of people living in and around Mooresville, incorporation became an option for residents seeking statehood within Indiana. On November 3rd of that year, voters approved incorporation with a population total of 699 ballots cast against only 104 votes cast for not incorporating. The process began again with more petitions being submitted over time but on May 15th 1870 finally incorporation moved forward after two months long deliberations following $1 million worth of advertising campaigns by both friends and foes alike including $500 contributions from moorevillians themselves! During its early days as an independent municipality, MooresVILLE had some unique features such as having its own jail which held inmates while awaiting trial or indictment; also there were three golf courses located throughout town (two open to members only), one amusement park which included a fire pits & target range; moreover there were several stores (one general store extended into six stories) catering to everyone from farmers to businessmen all while prices remained affordable for rural residents like moorevillians themselves! Eventually though with annexation by larger municipalities like Hammondsburg and Terre Haute soon after becoming part of those cities’ police forces etc., many aspects associated with traditional smalltown life diminished or even disappeared altogether such as social events being restricted or cancelled altogether due to budget constraints etc.; instead larger gatherings took place where civic engagement took center stage! Unfortunately this leftmoorevillians behind feeling isolated from their larger counterparts who enjoyed various benefits their city-dwellers didn’t have access too! With annexations by other towns & villages later on though things changed somewhat albeit slowly as each new community sought more advantages & privileges over their predecessor(s). However today much like beforeMooresVILLE remains an incredibly vibrant community complete with its rich history filled with laughter, love and memories made here – always looking forward to seeing you soon!!
