The first handguns in Mooresville were built by George Fenton from a kit he had purchased from a trader in France. These pistols used 6-inch barrels and weighed only 8 ounces each. They were very inaccurate but were well-suited for self-defense or hunting small game. In 1850, John Witherspoon opened a store in Mooresville and began selling pistols with 3-inch barrels and weighed between 9 and 11 pounds. Witherspoon was one of the first dealers to sell revolvers directly to consumers instead of through brokers. This change helped encourage more people to buy firearms and make them easier to use. Over time, other individuals also began selling firearms here in Mooresville. By 1860, there were over 20 businesses licensed to sell firearms in Mooresville alone! Of these businesses, 15 sold handguns as well as rifles and shotguns (the precursor to today’s shotgun). Today,Mooresville is home to an estimated 100 businesses that sell guns including handgun dealers (between 50 and 80%), rifle & shotgun retailers (10-15%), ammo dealers (10-15%), firearm maintenance & repair stores (5-10%!), funeral homes (1%), law enforcement agencies (2%) and manufacturing plants for ammunition (& sporting goods) companies!

Mooresville, Indiana is a small community located in Porter County, Illinois. It is the only municipality in Porter County and it has a population of about 1,500 people. The post office is located in Mooresville and the town website can be found at www.mooresvillage.com. The first residents of Mooresville were farmers who came to the area from Kentucky around 1820. They began planting corn, wheat, and other crops, but they did not have much success because the climate was too cold for them to grow anything else. In 1825, a man by the name of John Gorman moved to Mooresville from near Pittsburgh and started a tannery. The business was successful and Gorman became rich as a result. He also built some homes in Mooresville. Another important development in MooresVILLE's early years was its school system which opened in 1827. That year, one Mr. Jameson donated land for what would become MooresVILLE High School which served students from district No 2 until 1957 when that system merged with District No 3 to form Porter-Mooresburg Community Schools (PMCS). At that time, PMCS had over 1,000 students and 14 classrooms! In 1969-1970 PMCS closed its doors due to budget cuts within the then Des Moines public school system; however many of our alumni still attend PMCS today as private students! In 1868 Jno Couchman arrived from Kentucky with his family and set up shop on Main Street in present day Mooresville! A few years later he erected another store on West Market Street which proved to be successful enough for him to move his business into new buildings on Fourth Street between Court Avenue & Maple Road during 1870-1872! By 1880 there were six businesses operating in present day Mooreville including two groceries stores - C&H Grocery Store #1 (now called Holtzclaw) & Coopers Hardware Store #2 (now called Slingerland)! One other store - Wm Hartsfield’s Emporium - operated until 1961! From these six businesses five schools were founded: Floyd Moulton Elementary School #1 (opened September 6th 1870), Pembroke Elementary School #2 (opened October 12th 1870), Central High School #3 (opened February 10th 1875), Rural Academy (#4) closed January 8th 1944 due lack of enrollment; US Post Office Building burned down September 17th 1913; First Methodist Church used as an armory November 1915-1916; Second Methodist Church used as an armory November 1916-1920; Third Methodist Church used as an armory 1920-1921 ! Today only First PresbyterianChurch remains standing along with several contributing shops/cafes/bars inside while all others are gone or have been replaced by newer structures such as Holtzclaw Marketplace Shopping Center situated just east of First PresbyterianChurch opposite Interstate 55 on 4Th Street across from IH 60 Allentown Rd., now known as MOORESBURG CENTER!!!

Mooresville is a small town in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Mooresville was founded in 1825 and named for General James Moore, who fought in the War of 1812. A post office called Mooresville was established in 1827, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1902. The first settlers to Mooresville were two families from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania: the Beavers and Carpenters. They arrived on a flatboat July 10, 1825 and started a farm that would be home to them for over sixty years. In 1830 they had four children: John (born October 15th), Anna (born February 25th), Martha (born April 2nd) and Sarah (born November 3rd). In 1836 three brothers – John Daugherty (January 12th1819March 8th1881), Michael Murphy (September 17th1820December 20th1877) and Daniel Conway (February 5th1822July 24th1900) – began farming near what is now known as "The Corner" which lay along State Road 128 north of present day Mooresville. The land originally belonged to Major James Kappler who donated it to the community on December 26, 1800 after purchasing 4 leagues of land from Jacob Hagopian between Bloomington Township and Dearborn Township northeast of where Mooresville now sits. The original village site consisted of just a few homes including those built by Daniel Conway around 1830-35 as well as an old millrace which still stands today behind Main Street east of Third Avenue bridge crossing Little Miami River on Ross Road about one mile south of I-465 exit 9A near current day intersection with Old National Pike/State Road 128/National Pike before turning east onto I-465/Old National Pike then traveling northwest through Uniontown Cemetery until reaching its terminus at what is now known as "The Corner." Daugherty Bros., Connors & McGee also operated a gristmill here beginning about 1840 but this structure no longer exists; however there are remnants remaining from an early forge that smelted tin ore hereabouts including some hand-forged tools still extant today within view across Ross Road just south of I-465 exit 9A off Interstate 465 between Uniontown Cemetery & Old National Pike

In 1823, some of the Shawnee chiefs led a military expedition against numerous small Indian villages near Mount Vernon in what is now Illinois. After defeating these groups, they returned home and began peaceful relations with the Indians.
