He produced these rifles using an old Indian rifle stock and barrel that he had acquired from a white man. By 1870, Captain Gentry had produced over 100 firearms in Mooresville. His son, James Gentry Jr., continued his father's manufacturing business until 1907. During this time, James Gentry Sr.'s company manufactured pistols as well as shotguns and revolvers. One of the products that James Gentry Jr.'s company produced were rifles called the "Bible" series which were designed for use by the military and law enforcement agencies around the country. These guns featured an all-steel barrel with a 41-inch barrel length and a 12mm wide receiver diameter. It is interesting to note thatJames Gentry Jr.'s company also manufactured shotguns with barrels up to 36 inches in width. Various models of these shotguns were released during its production years including 26 gauge model "Bible" (1902), 28 gauge model "Bible" (1904), 32 gauge model "Bible" (1906), 36-inch inch model "Bible" (1910), 40-inch long barreled shotgun called the "Pilgrim" (1892), 44 Magnum Magnum revolver called the "Rifleman," Winchester Model XIX action sports rifle known as the Model 94 (.45 ACP) or Model 1895 (.30 Short Colt) on special orders, among many others!

Mooresville is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1835 by Presbyterian missionaries. Mooresville is located on the west bank of the White River. The original settlers were Methodist Episcopalians and Baptists. The first post office in Mooresville was established in 1836. In 1838, the town became part of Kosciusko County. In 1847, a school for boys was founded in Mooresville. A hospital was built in Mooresville in 1851 and closed in 1957. The first store opened in Mooresville in 1850 and continued to operate until 1954. In 1961, Kosciusko County consolidated with neighboring Union Township to form Kosciusko-Union Township Municipal District #1. On July 1, 1986, Union Township merged into Kosciusko-Union Township Municipal District #2 which consisted of all but 15 of the township’s 73 businesses including Mooresville’s five stores and two churches (the First Baptist Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church). On January 1, 1987, both districts were combined into one municipality under the name “Mooresville”
Mooresville, Indiana was founded in 1814 by Alexander McMillin and his family. The town was named for General James Moores who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1851, the town became a village and was renamed Mooresville. In 1912, the village merged with the township of Carbondale to form Carbondale Township.
