Mooresville, Indiana is a small town in north central Indiana. The population was 1,843 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lawrence County seat. The village was founded in 1824 as a post office named Mooresville after General James Moores, who fought in theAmerican Revolution and served as a colonel with the British army during that time. The first settler in Mooresville was John Hargrave. The town's namesake, General James Moores, also helped found Lawrence Township and other townships in east central Lawrence County. In 1852, many of the original settlers moved to present-day Indianapolis when that city became an important center for railroad transportation. By 1870, moorestown had developed into a small farming community with two stores and six families living there. A school was built in 1872 and enlarged twice more before being closed in 1919 due to budget cuts by then-Mayor Jens Jensen IV; it reopened as Ramada School for grades K-12 later that year. In 1984, Ramada School became Mooresville High School when it merged with nearby Northwest Central High School (now Northwest Central Middle/High School). In 1920, President Warren Harding purchased land near where Mooresville now stands and began developing what would become known as "The White House" – a presidential retreat located on 5 acres north of the village on Utopia Road across from Northwest Central Cemetery; it opened to visitors in 1923. After years of use by presidents such as Franklin D Roosevelt and John F Kennedy (and their families), The White House was sold to the privately held Forest City Development Company for $30 million in 1978 and subsequently used by several high-profile businesses including Time Warner Center until its closure following bankruptcy five years later; it has been vacant since then except for occasional uses as a storage facility or museum.) subsequent growth led toMooresville's incorporation as a village on February 14, 1927; at that time its population numbered just 153 residents out of 2,021 residents residing within Lawrence County proper! A new high school – Westside Community Schools – opened its doors to students on September 15th 1959 after merging with nearby Eastside Community Schools (then called Valley View Elementary). On October 16th 1969 Drs./Msgrs./Mrss./Jr./Sr.- Grade 7 & 8 students staged an “Anti-War sit down” at our current location which caused some disruption but ultimately ended without any issues due mainly because our parents were able to quickly mobilize their children & come outside & talk about healthy eating practices instead!

Mooresville is a small town in Henderson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,934 at the 2010 census. Mooresville was founded in 1827 by George Washington Moore and his family. It became a village in 1881. In 1919, it became an incorporated town. George Washington Moore was born in 1796 in North Carolina to John and Mary (Ferguson) Moore. After serving as a lieutenant colonel in the Union Army during the American Revolution, he returned to North Carolina and started a farm near Fayetteville. He married Anna May Childress on November 3, 1824, and they had six children: three boys and three girls. The following year, he moved to Henderson County with his wife and their five children to start a new life away from the troubles of war and revolution that were happening around them back home. From this new beginning came Mooresville – named for him – which grew rapidly thanks to its location on the banks of the White River (now known asthe Ohio River). The first post office opened in Mooresville on March 5, 1830; it was renamed Posey on December 7th of that same year after Major General James Posey who served under President Andrew Johnson during the Civil War. The first store open in Mooresville was called "Posey's Friends Store" but changed its name several times before becoming "The Gristmill" when it reopened in 1836 due to problems with getting financing for grain sales from merchants nearby who could afford mills much larger than those built by George Witherspoon & brothers company located just east of town across county lines at Hatfield & Pike Counties; these early millers were some of the first businessmen north of Indianapolis into what would become what is now Henderson County when Indiana Territory was organized on February 14th 1800 . By 1840 there were ten stores operating out of Mooresville with $2 million worth of goods sold that year In 1861-1862 moore's defensive position along river line resulted numerous raids by Ulysses S Grant’s forces against Creek Indian bands resulting over 100 dead including prominent Chief Osagee . This area continued until 1865 when Union troops withdrew southward Notable people from MooresVILLE include: Drs Daniel Krieger (1868-1946), Gustavus Withering (1914-1989), Vernon Bryant (1920-2002), Joy Joplin (1925-2001), Robert Plant (1970-present).
The community of Mooresville was founded in 1836 by James W. Moore and his wife, Catharine. The town name honor General Andrew Johnson, the 36th president of the United States. The Moore family operated a sawmill until it closed in 1888. In 1920, Mooresville became part of the new municipality of Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1929, Mooresville incorporated as a village. On July 1, 1949, Mooresville became an official city when it was ratified by the Indiana General Assembly. During World War II,Mooresville was home to the 9th Infantry Regiment (Airmobile) which served in Europe from 1942-1945 as part of the United States Army's European Command Airborne Forces Task Force Commander Post #1 (AEF TP for short).
