Mooresville is a town in Johnson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Johnson County. Mooresville was founded in 1833 by John Ralston Moore and named for him. The post office was established in 1836 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1909. The Mooresville community began as a small farming village located on the north side of what is now Mooresville Road. A schoolhouse and other buildings were built there about 1840; the first residents were wagon drivers and their families who needed to take care of their animals near Greencastle on the route between Cincinnati and Indianapolis. By 1845, when construction began on the Town Hall and courthouse, most of what is now Mooresville had been settled or laid out. Mooresville’s early years were difficult because it lacked transportation options: settlers had to walk to get to their businesses or settlements or take wagons downriver for goods that reached them from Cincinnati or Indianapolis. However, through hard work and innovation by settlers, moored steamboats became available during the late 1800s which made shipping prices lower so that moored boats could become an important part of local economy – this led to increased tourism in town which helped keep businesses open past prohibition days (during Prohibition many stores closed because they couldn’t sell alcohol). As more people moved into town during the 20th century, moored boat services declined but nonetheless contributed significantly to postwar economic growth in town by providing more jobs than manufacturing did; today's moored boat service industry employs over 350 people hereabouts full-time. Although some traditional industries have disappeared such as riverboat racing – which ceased operations marketing-wise after 1970 due largely to technological advances – others like insurance are still major employers here including both dockworkers (who operate ferries)and boaters themselves (who use pleasure craft for fishing trips). Today there are several museums inside/outside of town with exhibits on history/life/economics of boating/steamboat industry etcetera etcetera….. Locals attend numerous events held throughout year outside town limits….. Main Street remains one continuous commercial corridor with many small business owners along its length………. Many residents continue[ing] traditions like hosting annual Christmas party at home………. Overall [the] economy has diversified somewhat since prohibition ended…..much thanks go[nd] out to all those who have supported us over these intervening decades…………………. In short “MooresVILLE!” just doesn't do it justice…..

Morseville is located in the central part of Howard County, Indiana. The village was founded by John Morse in 1847 as a small community on the banks of the White River. It grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, thanks to its location on the railroad and its access to education and industry. In 1925, Morseville incorporated as a town, and it remained an agricultural center until the late 1990s. Today, Mooresville is a small town with a population of approximately 1,000 people.
