Mishawaka, Indiana is a city in the state of Indiana. It is located in central-westIndiana and has a population of over 120,000 people as of the 2010 census. The city was founded on November 12, 1837 by freeze farmers John W. Stephenson and his wife Anna Stephenson. In 1870, the city was moved from its original location to what is now the eastern edge of downtown Mishawaka. The first gun magazine in Mishawaka was built by George Ewing in 1875 at 6th and Market Streets. In 1903, Mishawaka became one of twenty-six cities which joined the new State of Indiana as part of its process to bring about economic development within its borders. As part of this effort, the General Assembly passed an act which authorized the erection of a capitol building within four years “for the purpose and use”of Hoosier University. On December 3rd 1907, while still under construction (and only two months away), Governor John Pendergast granted preliminary approval for final design and construction on Capitol Square by local architect Ira Beal with assistance from Spanish engineer José de la Peña y Valdés y Galdós y Rodríguez de la Cueva* (*Jorge de la Peña y Valdés). In 1877, the Mishawaka Shotgun and Pistol Club was founded. The club soon became responsible for manufacturing and distributinggun magazines in the community. In 1888, the Mishawaka Rifle and Pistol Club merged with another local rifle and pistol club to form the Mishawaka Rifle Association. Around this time, other towns in Indiana began adopting similar gun-magazine policies. By 1898, all of Indiana had such regulations in place.

The village has a rich history dating back to 1837 when it was founded as a mission station on the banks of the Wabash River. In 1943, Mishawaka became an incorporated town and has since grown into a thriving community with more than 10,000 residents. The Village of Mishawaka lies along the banks of Wabash River just east of downtown Indianapolis. The Village was platted in 1837 by George Stephenson and others from nearby Hyderabad Township under the name “Mishawa” because they thought its location would make it convenient for travelers going to that city on the Wabash River. In 1863, when Indiana became a state, Mishawaka voted to secede from Michigan Territory and join Indiana as part of that state. On July 16th of that year, Illinoisan entrepreneur Nicholas Murray Butler arrived in Indianapolis with plans to establish an iron works hereabouts which he named Butler Iron Works due to its prime location on both sides of the river – one above market and one below it (the site now occupied by First National Bank). Butler quickly realized that he needed someone to run things day-to-day so he appointed Solomon Stilwell as its first mayor in 1863. That same year saw important events within Mishawaka as well; pioneer James Beardsley built what is now known as Beardsley House in honor of his new friend Solomon Stilwell who had died two years earlier while exploring near present-day Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania land west of Indianapolis (). In 1865–66 three men building wagons for wagon traffic on State Road 41 between Greenfield Junction (now New Albany) and Warsaw were killed by Indians while travelling through this area; their bodies were never found but their skulls were found some miles north-west at what is now called Valentine’s Hill Cemetery (). This event is often cited as marking the start of white settlement in this area (). Ontario native John Ladd also settled hereabouts during this time period (), initially working for Powell Coal Company before moving into farming outside present day Mishawaka (); today’s Ladd Road cuts through much of this original communal landline where he operated his farmstead () until his death in 1925 (). During World War I there was significant growth within Mishawaka thanks largely to Morrell Motors Manufacturing Co., Incorporated which located hereabouts manufacturing military vehicles such as tanks and artillery pieces (); production ceased entirely following America's entry into World War II but resumed after MacArthur relieved Roosevelt () After World War II ended many businesses closed down or relocated outta state but Morrell Motors did not.; however semi truck manufacturer Geo Metals continued operation until 1984 making metallurgy products such as steel wire rope and conduitraint equipment used extensively throughout rural America Today still being manufactured at their former facility off Third Street South near Fort Wayne

The two magazines continued to publish each other until 1933. After 1933 GUNS INSPIRED Publications was formed as the exclusive publisher of both magazines.

In 1853, Mishawaka became part of what is now Cook County, Illinois; however, its importance as a regional center continued to be reflected through its status as county seat until 1915. The population of Mishawaka peaked at over 30,000 during World War II but then declined due to industry decline and migration to larger cities in central Indiana. However, recent revitalization has led to increased business activity in Mishawaka and it has seen rapid growth since 2000 according to US Census data - making it one of the fastest growing communities in America overall!
