It is safe to say that the history of gun magazines in Martinsville, Indiana starts with the first magazine published in this town. On July 3rd, 1873, The Martinsville Journal printed an article about a new rifle called the “Pioneer.” This rifle was designed by George Stephenson and offered for sale to the public. The Pioneer revolver also debuted in this issue of the journal. It was a 6 shot revolver that fired cartridges from a clip found at the side of the gun. The first legally registered handguns in Martinsville were produced on October 1st, 1879 by Mr. A.W. Chapman and Sons of Indianapolis. This company manufactured pistols and revolvers using Presentation brand cases which held 7 rounds per case or 80 rounds total for each handgun when it was produced. These handguns were known as “Presentation Pistols” because they carried a presentation case instead of having a Colt trigger lock cylinder like most other similar firearms at the time. On January 12th, 1901, The Gazette print an article about how interest in guns had become so large that licensees needed to possess only 10 rounds per pistol instead of unlimited rounds carried on their person as originally required by law back then! At this point ammunition became available through licensed dealers who made deliveries directly to your door! In 1907-1908 The Gazette ran an advertising campaign featuring Mr Henry Winchester calling upon citizens throughout our area to contribute $5 for each magazine insertion into their paper! By 1908-1909 Magazine subscription rates had reached $2 per month which is still quite high today! On October 25th 1909 one hundred fifty years ago today Martinsville passed laws making it illegal to carry any type of firearm without prior written consent from both local officials and state troopers!

Gun mags have been a part of humanity for centuries and their use can be traced back to at least 439 AD when Buddhist monks in India began using gunpowder-armed drums as part of their religious ceremonies. The Chinese also began using firecrackers as ammunition in the late Tang Dynasty (618-907) and continued to do so until around 1279 AD, when similar devices known as “pistols” became common in Europe. From there, things quickly got messy. Gun magazine development proceeded at abreakneck pace during the 16th century and by 1650 AD, pistols had surpassed cannon as the most popular type of firearms on Earth. This progress was due largely to advances in printing technology which allowed printers to create large quantities of textiles such as paper ballots and public records (thus allowing governments and armies to track troop movements). In addition, newly invented breechloading guns – which fired projectiles through a barrel before itfired again- made magazines all but obsolete. With modern printing techniques still being refined well into the 18th century, it was not until 1818 that an Englishman named John Brown published his theoretical treatise on magazine design which helped spur further innovation in this important field. Interestingly enough, though magazine usage gradually diminished throughout much of 19th century Europe, it did not take long for cartridge revolvers – once again powered by powder weapons –to become mainstream here too. Colt Firearms Company introduced its Model 1851 revolver with a revolving cylinder in 1859 and soon thereafter began marketing its own reloadable cartridges dubbed “ballistics torpedoes” because they could explode on impact (an idea picked up by other manufacturers shortly thereafter). This rapid expansion prompted Congress to pass legislation forbidding any new handgun designs without prior approval from both Colt and state legislators (the only exceptions being rifles chambered for ballistic rounds). By 1870 AD however, nearly two centuries after initially introducing these innovative firearms into society, revolver manufacture had firmly entrenched itself within American culture . . .

Martinsville is a town in and the county seat of Greencastle Township, in central Tipton County, Indiana. The population was 8,946 at the 2010 census. It has been home to the Martinsville Speedway since 1907. The first people to settle in what is now Martinsville were farmers who had arrived from Illinois by way of Columbus in 1814. By 1825, some land had been patented for a Methodist Episcopal church and school. The first post office was established in 1827 and named for Col. Amos Martin, an American Revolutionary War general who served as brigadier general during the war. In 1835, a grant of land was made to Christopher Gifford for the erection of a market house, roadhouse, and other buildings; this gift also included land for schools that would later become Martinsville High School and Martinsville College (now Purdue University). In 1855, Edwin Sargent purchased 640 acres (249 hectares) of land east of present-day Martinsville on which he built what is today known as Sargent's woodyard mansion. The original structure still stands today - it is now known as Woodyard Mansion Museum & Park. In 1860–1861, John Witherspoon donated over 1 million dollars towards building what are now Butler Hall and Witherspoon House on lands grant from James Kappe III.. Over time many other gifts were given including contributions from Colonel Moses Lyon (founder of Lafayette Community Hospital), Judge John Denton (a local hero associated with Indianapolis' early development), General George Armstrong Custer's widow Julia Armstrong Custer (the daughter of General Custer’s father-in-law), among others. The townspeople began developing their own economy based upon agriculture with processing plants being erected soon after around 1915 when television became available to most people within minutes or hours of demand throughout much of America! After World War I ended in 1918 there was little need for production because automobiles were becoming common place; however due to wartime imports such as bicycles and motorcycles new factories were started up such as the Ford Motor Company plant producing cars like Pinto models until they retired around 1975!

In 1819, when the area was part of the Northwest Territory, James Martin built a cabin on the banks of the river. The town that evolved from this first settlement was named after him. In 1839, Martin moved his family to what is now Martinsville and started an agricultural enterprise. He also became involved in politics and served as a delegate to the Indiana Constitutional Convention in 1850. In 1861, he married Susanna Hendrickson and began another agricultural dynasty in Martinsville. The Hendricksons ran a large mercantile business until their death in 1978.
