They were the first gunsmiths in Marion County. In 1927, they sold their business to John Fenton and his sons. John Fenton ran the business until it closed its doors in 1984. The Business was reopened by his son Craig Fenton in 1990 as the Fenton Armsmithy. In 2002, Craig Fenton passed away and his son Cody took over operations of the business. Today, Cody Fenton is the owner and operator of the Fenton Armsmithy.

Marion is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,829 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Decatur-Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Marion was James Kiser, who arrived in 1827. The town site was surveyed by Nicholas de la Motte in 1830 and dedicated on July 4th that year. In 1836, David Dixon donated land to the town for a public square and schoolhouse. A post office was established at Marion in 1840 and continued to be operated until it closed in 1902. The first store opened on Main Street near the present day courthouse around 1845. By 1860, there were nine businesses open within a three block radius of the original courthouse including five grocery stores, two dry goods stores, four hardware stores and one feed store. In 1870, an addition to the Courthouse called "The White House" was built for $2,500 by Nathan Sanger and his wife Nancy Jane Sanger (née Atkinson). Mrs Sanger served as First Lady of Marion from 1893-1901; she also raised money for local charities through theatrical performances at her home which were often attended by dignitaries such as Presidents Harrison & McKinley. President William Howard Taft visited Marion during his tour of central Indiana in 1909 while living at Green Gables Manor; he noted that "the people here are very nice". In 1913, when General Electric purchased controlling interest in Jardine Massey Rubber Company (JMR), it merged with GEICO to form General Electric Corporation (GEICO). The merger created a number of challenges for Marion including job lost due to automation plus increased taxes which had been levied against GEICO's assets without appropriation by Congress prior to its acquisition by GEICO. However, many members of the community supported GEICO's new direction including Mayor John Cavanaugh who said "We can't go back now [to] those days when we couldn't get anything done because somebody else would come along." After years of negotiations between GEICO management and city officials culminating with annexation by Lafayette County following JMR's liquidation twelve years earlier during World War I; on February 6th 1920 local residents voted 3-1 in favor of annexation into Lafayette County over objections from some residents who felt their village would be destroyed if annexed into another county.(Lafayette Herald 10/5/1920) On July 15th 1920 after voters approved annexation via referendum ; Judge John Hulbert granted final approval allowing construction began immediately upon issuance of writs.(Lafayette Herald 11/15/1920) Commissioned Surveyor George Woldenberg supervised building construction which began on December 12th 1920(Marion Courier 8/24/2001). Aspects of this growth include what is now known as downtown Marion being developed from scratch between 1915-1918; construction of two bridges over White River which linked Marion with other villages; and establishment of schools including one which became Joplin Elementary School in 1965
