Logansport, Indiana is a town in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 10,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Louisville–Jeffersonville metropolitan area. The first weapon flashlight was invented by George Washington Morrison in 1884. This light generated from an electric battery and used a hand-held metal detector to indicate presence of concealed weapons or explosives. In 1906, the first gun-mounted flashlight appeared on Delaware Avenue in Logansport when Joeseph Hirsch developed and patented the "Hirsch Gunlight". This device allowed law enforcement officers to see in darkness where their prey might be hiding with little risk of being detected by other users of night vision equipment or worse yet being shot by the target itself. During World War II, many tool manufacturers entered into production for use with military forces as part of Project Magenta which focused on providing better night vision equipment for troops on battlefields around the world. One such company was DeWitt Custom Tools who manufactured three different types of flashlights: A Pistol Flashlight (1941), Rifleflashlight (1943), and Grenade Light (1945). These devices were designed specifically for use with firearms and were not meant for general public use; they were only available to military personnel and their authorized agents. One unique product that DeWitt Custom Tools produced during Project Magenta was the "Axe" flashlight which featured both an electronic engine that could produce up to 400 lumens while also using 3 AA batteries as energy sources) and a manual off-the-shelf switch operated via rubber band that allowed operation even when wet or cold weather made it difficult to grip the handlebars

This led to the growth of logging industry in Logansport which continued until about 1920 when production ceased due to technological advances. Today, there are only a few small businesses that continue to operate within the town limits including two restaurants and one grocery store. One of the most important aspects ofLogansport's history is its role as county seat from 1800 until it was superseded by Merrillville in 1925. For many decades, it was also an important trade center for farmers in surrounding counties because of its access to rivers and waterways.
