Logansport, Indiana is a small town in Logansport County,Indiana. It was founded on October 10th, 1825 by John Logan and his brother David. The original log cabin was built on the corner of Main Street and School Road. On December 12th, 1847, the first school in Logansport opened its doors to students from all over Indiana. The first scopes were made in Logansport in 1851 by Dr. George Stephenson with a polychromatic mirror. In 1865, Charles Goodsell began making telescopes for sale in Logansport. By 1870 there were more than 100 scopes being sold in Logansport alone. In 1892 Jens Jensen purchased the business from Goodsell and continued to make telescopes until 1909 when he passed away at the age of ninety-six years old. After Jens' death, his son Lars Jensen took over the business until his own death in 1961. From 1961-1972 the microscope company Hennepin Optical Manufacturing Company operated out of the same building as Lars Jensen's optical store which is still standing today on Fourth Avenue west of downtownLogansport.(C)1998 S&H Graphics inc., All Rights Reserved

Since 2000, it has been home to both LCC (Langston County Community Colleges) and LAP (Logan County Academy Public Schools).
