The Logansport Shooting Target Holder Company was founded in 1907 by George W. Fell and his son, Harry Fell. It continued to be a family-owned business until 1945 when it was bought out by the Armour Manufacturing Company. The company then went through several ownership changes before being sold to the Winchester Repeating Arms Corporation in 1959. In 1984, the company was acquired by Remington Arms, which eventually closed it down in 1992.
Logansport is a town in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,691 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Logansport was founded in 1814 by Quakers from Northampton Township and named for General George Logan who served in the Indian Wars and as an U.S. Senator from Kentucky. Logansport became a city on December 12, 1907. The log cabin-style architecture of many Logansport residents has been preserved and is also seen in other nearby towns such as Noblesville and Bedfordtown; this style of architecture is sometimes called "Old World" or "Gothic". The first settler in what would become Logansport was John Fenton who arrived in 1814 with his family from Northampton Township, Pennsylvania. He built his first home on the current site of downtown on the banks of the Monongahela River.. Fenton was one of seven families who pooled their money to buy land around present day downtown." In 1817 they began construction of what would become LOGANSPORT'S FIRST HOUSING STRUCTURE - A CABINET STORE – which still stands today inside the building that now houses the revived Old World Coffee House restaurant & coffee shop! Other early settlers included James Gentry (1821-1902), Isaac Sears (1822-1899), Myron Potter (1825-1912), Michael Hogan (1828-1900) and Jacob Humphrey (1830-1920). It wasn't until 1839 when David Macklin bought land adjacent to where downtown sits from Nicholas Culpepper that LOGANSPORT truly commenced as a community with its own schoolhouse, courthouse and post office! Macklin donated kingstonite bricks to construct these structures which can still be seen today outside of CITY Hall on Main Street! In 1841 David Macklin's son John married Sarah Morrow at whose house located just east side Main Street now stands our FIRST SUSPENSE OF LIFE - A LUMBER STORAGE BOX - which again can be found within City Hall basement! John Macklin only stayed here for a year due to his parents move away but left behind foundations for our LOVE DISTRICT – NOW CALLED THE MACKLIN FAMILY MARKETPLACE – where he conducted weekly sales of local produce during summer months! David & Sarah Macklin had six children: Anna (baptized Nancy Welsh on October 3rd 1796 d/o Ebenezer Welsh), David Dickson (died 1861), John Wistar(baptized November 12th 1830 d/o Elisha Wistar), Margaret Welsh(moved to Logansports 1840s & died there 1909), Martha Welsh(migrated 1850s) & Josephine Welsh(migrated 1860s). All exceptJosephine are buried near present day Downtown while Mary received her burial at Mount Hope Cemetery near Terre Haute
