Rifles have been around for centuries, and Logansport, Indiana is home to one of the most famous rifle stocks in the world. The Rifle Stocks Museum was founded in 1876 by a group of gentleman gun collectors from Logansport. The museum has over 100 rifles on display, including some that are still in use today. The first rifle stock was made in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte at his factory in Paris. It was used with a muzzleloader called the Musketeer. For many years, it was thought that this stock design was the work of Pierre-Jean Conte, father of Nicolas-Jacques Conte and grandfather of Claude Conte. However, recent research has shown that this stock design may actually be the work of Englishman John Reid who created it around 1795. In 1876, a group of gentlemen from Logansport began collection and ownership of rifles dating back to before Confederation Day in 1787. They named their club the “Rifle Stocks Club” and began displaying their rifles at various events throughout the town. In 1912, they moved their shop to what is now known as Third Street between Main and Washington Streets in downtown Logansport. This location allowed them to continue displaying their classic firearms even during prohibition which caused some controversies among members! In 1935, Mrs. Hilda Atlee donated her Collection Of Firearms To The City Of Logansport As A civic honor recognizing her husband Colonel Hiram Atlee’s services during World War I as Mayor Of Logansport And later As A United States Senator From Illinois Oranization). After World War II ended there were few left remaining so Mrs Atlee gifted all remaining firearms (including shotguns) To The State University Of Iowa In 1951 as specimens On These Grounds That Steel Was Now Outlawed In America). Today’s Rifle Stocks Museum features over 100 unique American made rifles from prewar through post war periods on exhibit including examples used today!!

Logansport is a city in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 17,826 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Logansport County. The city is part of the Lafayette–Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what would become Logansport was James Logan in 1814. He and his family located on the banks of the Kankakee River. In 1827, John Rodgers founded a small farming community called Rodgersville on land that he had purchased from the Abenakis tribe for $5 worth of goods and services in lieu of gifts they had been promised as payment for their assistance with construction of a road from Vandalia to Fort Wayne. Rodgersville grew rapidly and by 1830 it contained over 100 residents. By 1835, loggers were logging fifty miles (80 km) west of present-day Logansport on high ground known as "The Ridge". A school was built there in 1836 by Reverend Wm Hovey and named after him when it opened to students at Ross Township Academy near Gentrysburg; however, it closed soon afterward because loggers were using it as their own millspace while theylogged farther westward. In 1840, General David Dixon organized a military detachment sent to suppress Native American uprisings along the Shawnee Trail and discovered that local residents were helping them fight these insurgents without proper documentation or compensation so Dixon arrested many local residents including Logan who accompany him into custody until he can free them with bribes received from nearby traders before being released unharmed. In 1847 Jno Logan married Anna Maria Godfrey whose parents resided in Paulding County, Kentucky; her father having come to Indiana Territory with Andrew Johnson's forces during the Mexican War under cover of darkness on October 15th,1846 where he had earlier landed clandestinely aboard an American steamer from San Francisco Ferryboat Point approximately south-southwest of modern day Lafayette (then part Of Vandalia) after learning about war preparations going on back home among other events taking place during this time period). They moved to Logansport shortly thereafter where they began raising crops and found work Availability open land west of town beginning plowing fields adjacent to US High School which became known as "Logan's Field" later shortened To just "Field"...the area now bounded by Third Street east down Eighth Avenue north past Ligonier Road then east across First Street continuing northeasterly along East Second Street past Ligonier Road into what is today Village Square...they raised two children - Anna Maria (born December 10th 1850) who married George Washington Fullerton March 25th 1865 at St Anselm Episcopal Church located northeast corner 3rd Ave & 8th St NW...and James Logan Jr born January 6TH1853 who Married Mary Jane Welles May 4TH 1860 also at St Anselm Episcopal Church located northeast corner 3rd Ave & 8th St NW...AnnaMaria died February 16TH 1889 aged 73 years old leaving 2 children: James Logan III February 9TH1869 born November 26TH 1865 daughter Mary Jane Elizabeth Welles widow March 25Th 1870 son George Washington Fullerton born April 6Th1873 died December 11TH 1888 aged 59 years old both are buried together beside their mother AnnaMaria within Villa Square Cemetery today One hundred years ago there were only five families living close enough together for agriculture or commerce but by 1920 there were over one thousand people living within easy walking distance or drivein' distance thanks especially to automobiles which made transportation much easier than ever before! What began as simple farmsteads housing up to twenty four family members quickly became bedroom communities supplying materials used daily such as lumber mill products exported all around America through Grand Rapids Railroad Terminal! Today’s downtown core has evolved revitalized since becoming “the commercial center” while LOGANSPORT remains steadfastLY an agricultural powerhouse – supplying much needed jobs throughout our region!
