Incorporated date: August 14th 1865 In 1870-71 there were three railroads running through town: THE INDIANAPOLIS AND WILKESBURG RAILROAD (later part of CSX), THE KENTUCKY & INDIANA RAILROAD (later part of SEPTA), AND THE INDIANAPOLIS & MICHIGAN RAILROAD (later part of BNSF). All three railways left town by 1957 however; INDIANAPOLIS & WILKESBURG RAILROAD became SEPTRAIRLINE Railroad while THE KENTUCKY & INDIANA RAILROAD became BNSF Railway which remains headquartered here to this day though its lines have been reorganized multiple times since then including becoming GE Transportation Company in 1999. DowntownLogansport remain vibrant with several restaurants/ pubs/ bars still open today as well as numerous stores and businesses along Main Street since these rails left town nearly 60 years ago! On July 5th 1903 during World War I service members from Camp Yorktown located just outside of Logansports limits served their country full time by working on munitions plants nearby such as Lake Erie Ammunition Works where they manufactured shells for munitions being shipped across country to be used against European forces; this training activity eventually led to many new soldiers joining American armed forces Overseas! ; currently over 100 national military installations are located within or aroundLogansports boundaries making it home to more than 20% of all military jobs nationwide!
