Logansport is a small town in the state of Indiana, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Logansport County and has a land area of just over 12 square miles (30 km2). The town's history dates back to 1837 when it was founded by John G. Logan and his wife Annaeus Crain as "Logan Station". In 1846, Logan station was renamed after General James H. Logan who had fought against Mexican forces during the Mexican-American War. On March 24, 1861, during the American Civil War, General Logan's brigade attacked Confederate batteries near present-day Uniontown while under orders from Brigadier General William T. Sherman. Logansport was also part of a force which advanced on Lexington to capture that city on April 9th but were unsuccessful due to lack of horses and munitions. Logansport grew rapidly after World War II, with businesses such as IBM beginning to open up in what is now known as downtown Logansport. After years of growth and development, including several annexations within Logansport itself over time (most notably in 1957 with the annexation of Taylorville), the city limit was set at its current size in 1990 by an act of the Indiana legislature following a referendum vote conducted in that year. As more people began moving into town limits – many coming from outlying villages or townships within neighboring counties – there have been concerns about congestion and possible conflict between residents living close together and those wishing to use public transportation or access other amenities located outside town limits. This issue has come increasingly to light since 2007 when two separate lawsuits were filed alleging that some residents had violated zoning restrictions by constructing homes without proper permits; one case led to an injunction granted against another property owner who refused to make changes to their house while another lawsuit resulted in a $5 million judgment awarded against one defendant for violating zoning ordinances dating back to 1926! Despite these challenges, logansports historic core remains largely unchanged; thanks largely to its rich cultural heritage which includes significant contributions from both Irish immigrants who arrived in high numbers duringthe late 1800s and early 1900s as well as later waves of Germans and Italians who came through during this period Today, Logansport boasts some successful businesses such as Apple Inc.'s Cupertino Research Park headquarters complex (which opened up in 2014) along with several restaurants including Taverna Italiana & Pizzeria & Readymilk Cafe among others - all situated along Bridge Street near former logging campsites where pioneer settlers would gather for dinner before going off into the night

Logansport, Indiana is a city in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Logansport was founded in 1824 by Judge Jacob Logan and Dr. James Hennepin as a small town on the east side of what is now downtown Indianapolis. The first settlers were farmers who arrived from Virginia and Pennsylvania in 1824 and started to grow corn and beans on their farmsteads near what is now First Street and Meridian Avenue. By 1830, loggers had come into the area to cut logs for building construction and soon there were several mills around town supplying logs for local ships or being used to build early railroads in both directions. The first school was built in 1827 on South Meridian Avenue with eight students but it burned down in 1840 due to an arsonist’s attack. A new school was built on North Meridian Avenue in 1841 which served as the nucleus of Logansport high school until it merged with Ivy Tech High School (now known as University Park) in 1965 to create what is now Purdue University-Logansport Campus. In 1860, John Fenton opened a general store at 5th Street and Delaware Avenue which became one of Logansport’s most popular businesses until he closed it during Prohibition because his liquor could not be sold under state prohibition laws then existing. In 1865, Jno Crain opened his own grocery store at 301 E Washington Street which continued to be popular until it closed around 1920 when business began to decline among other stores closing across central Indiana due various reasons such as technological advancements that made products packaged more easily available online or advances elsewhere withinIndiana that caused shoppers preference for out-of-state brands over local brands overall
Logansport was founded in 1817 by Nicholas Logans and his wife Martha. The first post office was established in Logansport in 1819. In 1830, the town became a stop on the National Road. In 1847, the community had a population of 509 people and it grew to 1,164 people by 1870. The millinery industry started to grow in Logansport after 1850 and the city became known as the "Fabricant of America." By 1900, there were over 3,000 businesses in Logansport. The Great Depression hit Logansport hard and by 1930 it had only 9 businesses remaining. However, through its efforts during the Depression,Logansport regained its vitality and now has more than 30 businesses. The current mayor is Don Nehlen with a term set to expire at the end of 2020
