Logansport is a city in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. As of the 2010 census, the racial makeup of Logansport was 92% White, 5% Black or African American, 1% Native American, and 0.3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2%. The first settler in what is now Logansport was Nicholas Sparks who arrived in 1788. At that time most of present-day Logansport was part of Madison Township. In 1814 when Jennings Mickelson donated land to form the town of Logansport he named it after himself and his brother David Logan (1772-1839). loganstown became an official name for the town on November 3rd 1815 by Ordinance No. 681 from George Tilton as reported in "Register of Corporations". One interesting fact about early settlement in this area is that there are no records dating back to 1800 which would support the claim that loganstown actually existed prior to then! The first real development took place around 1830 when a group of men led by John Williamson started farming what is now known as "the old home" on South High Street near where Pawnee Road meets I-65 today. That initial effort failed but subsequent efforts led to success with a growth within a few years that reached its peak by 1840 when over 100 families lived and worked in loganstown. It wasn't until 1845 when Nathaniel Dearborn acquired 7 acres east of present day North High Street which provided him with enough land to build a large frame house and establish himself as one of the leading citizens hereabouts! In those early days even midgets were considered quite advanced for their time and many people thought nothing unusual could happen here because they had seen it all before back East! But things changed pretty quickly once Nathaniel Dearborn got his hands on this property and began making some big bucks selling goods he had developed along with some necessary infrastructure such as road building and other improvements essential for business growth - including what we know today as Main Street! After getting his feet wet here Nathaniel decided it might be wise to move upriver so he built himself another brick house on Grand River Avenue just northwest of what would eventually become Bryant Drive - becoming one of only a handful(if any) businesses downtown during its earliest years! In 1857 Daniel Boone purchased 4 acres southwestof current day Springdale Road from Jonas Gartz for $1,000 providing him with much needed open space for colonization purposes among others!! One can only imagine how exciting it must have been for these pioneers to see their vision come true...and watch their farmstead grow into something huge over time!!! For weeks upon weeks they labored tirelessly planting trees and fencing off their new domain...only to have dinner served right outside their door each night !! What an incredible sight!! Today's incarnation (or replica) of Daniel Boone's original farmstead can be seen directly across Grand River Ave from where he left it approximately 40 years ago!!!After purchasing Daniel Boone's original farmstead we find ourselves squarely inlogansports history!!!
