The racial makeup of Lebanon was 97% White; 1% African American; 0% Native American; 1% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%. Lebanon is a small, rural town in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kosciusko County seat and lies on the west side of the Kosciusko River. The town's founder, James White, erected a log cabin in 1809 and named it Lebanon after his home country of Lebanon in Syria. The first post office was established in 1817 and moved to its current location three years later. In 1826, Christopher Beattie platted the land around what is now Lebanon and developed it into a large village with two stores, four homes, and five schools. By 1860, the village had grown to include 102 residents; by 1930 it had grown to 900 people. A sawmill was built in 1865 and became operational until 1975; during that time it employed over 100 men who harvested lumber for local buildings including churches and schoolhouses. In 1915-16, Lebanese voters approved an amendment to their Constitution which designated Lafayette as their county seat; this move helped create more opportunities for Lebanese immigrants living in Indiana during that decade than ever before. In 1978-79, polls showed that nearly half of all Lebanese Americans residing in Indiana were supportive of secession from the United States due to political instability plaguing neighboring Syria since 1970s Beirut bombings; however this idea was never put into action because support for secession among Lebanese Americans dwindled thereafter following Syrian military interventions throughout Lebanon throughout those years (due largely to Syrian disapproval). After years of negotiations between both countries' governments culminating with talks between Pence and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on November 13th 2017,[1] final borders were drawn up between both nations within hours[2][3] resulting in much celebration across both communities - particularly over aspects such as equal representation on councils (whereas Syrians have long dominated), acknowledgment that Lebanon has been ravaged by 20 years of sectarian violence,[4][5][6] free access for refugees fleeing Syria,[7][8][9] Armenian genocide recognition[10], upcoming peace talks between Hezbollah leadership[11], reconstruction assistance being offered directly to villages targeted by ISIL militants,[12],[13],[14],[15],[16]), but also concerns about security issues--most notably regarding cross border smuggling operations by militant groups along Lebanon-Syria border--the annexation process proceeded smoothly amidstreeturning fears among some owing primarily to misinformation given out through social media platforms.[17]-20
