In 1892, a man by the name of George Kokomo invented the first airgun in Kokomo, Indiana. The gun was made from an old hunting rifle and consisted of a metal frame with a rubber stock. Kokomo is considered to be the birthplace of the modern airgun.
Kokomo is a small, unincorporated community in Ashtabula County, Indiana, United States. The population was 568 at the 2010 census. Kokomo is located on the eastern edge of the Ashtabula County metropolitan area. Kokomo is part of the Kokomo–Fort Wayne, IN–Washburn, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was platted in 1872 by John Davenport and named for its location on the Koshkon River some 30 miles (48 km) east of Fort Wayne. A post office was established at Kokomo in 1873, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1908. The first settler to arrive in what is now Kokomo was David Price who arrived from Illinois on July 15, 1875. The first school in Kokomi opened its doors to students on September 3, 1876; it served as a rural one-room schoolhouse until 1900 when a new school building became available. It cost $2 per week to operate and taught grades one through six. In 1907, the state legislature approved a bill providing for an elementary section within Ashtabula County that would be divided into two parts: One part would include Kokomi while the other part would include Chippewa Lake Elementary School; this happened and also renamed Chippewa Lake High School which served as both schools' respective campuses until 1984 when they were combined into one entity known as "Kokomohigh Schools". In 1907 too local resident George Wimmer took up landowning near present day Hinsdale to form Wimmer & Price Farms with intentions of constructing a sawmill and grain elevator; however those plans never came to fruition due to World War I hostilities which interrupted production at Wimmer & Price's mill which led to their bankruptcy in 1919). It wasn't until after 1918 that there will be any permanent buildings erected within town limits - these being blocks 6-8-10/12 off State Road 516 which housed various Odd Fellows Lodge #564 during its early years before becoming known simply as "The Block" later renamed "Homes" following purchase by current owners Lisa & Don Kuhnbeck circa 1984 who have kept it property ever since - this block still contains original owner operated businesses including Mrs Kuhnbeck's BARBARA'S GARAGEwhich has been open every day of every month since 1978! During prohibition Joe Ladd ran his speakeasy called Joe's Last Resort from 1923-1927 inside HOMES located just east of Main Street across from Katz's Deli; afterwards he closed down all his businesses but reopened them as Joe Ladd's Speakeasy from 1929 onward serving only beer! This speakeasy remains open today albeit sans liquor! After prohibition booze became legal again via an amendment made to the US Constitution via referendum on 4th November 1920 leading to increased demand for alcohol storefronts within town limits businesses slowly reopened although most continued operations without any sort of liquor restrictions! However upon repeal less than 2 months later on 20th December 1920Joe Ladd reopened his speakeasy once more with all back room service now offering over 100 whiskeys + 50 international brand names spanning everythingfrom vodkaTo rum To Tequila!!! With Prohibition coming to an end many small business owners found themselves out of business so they reverted back towardsfeaturing no liquor restrictions except special occasions such as St Patrick's Day or Christmas!

On the evening of November 1, 1814, a party of twenty-four men and women set out from Kokomo on their way to Pendleton in Indiana. They were the first white people to set foot in that area. When they arrived at the fort, they found that it had been taken over by Indian forces. The women went into labor and were not able to return home until after dark. The group was then forced to sleep in the fort themselves for two days before being allowed to leave for Pendleton. There, they met other settlers who had also gone there looking for help against Tecumseh's army. The group made it all the way back safely and returned with reinforcements on December 2nd. This event is often considered one of the most important moments in Kokomo history because it helped establish trade between the United States and India and encouraged settlement in that region.
