Kendallville, Indiana is home to one of the oldest shooting ranges in the Midwest. The Kendallville Rifle and Pistol Club was founded on July 4th, 1871 by George Washington Kendall. The club’s first range was located on an open field in what is now the town square. In 1925, the club moved to its current location on a hill near the river. The range has been remodeled several times and today offers a variety of shooting opportunities for all ages and abilities. Shooting at Kendallville rifle and pistol clubs dates back to 1871! Today, there are over 350 members of the Kendallville Rifle and Pistol Club who enjoy using our range for target practice, competition, educational purposes, or just having fun!

Kendallville, Indiana is a small town located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 3,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kendallville is home to many businesses and organizations that contribute to its unique atmosphere including Kendallville Variety Store, Kendallville United Methodist Church, and Kendallville High School which offers classes from ninth through twelfth grades. The first Europeans to visit what is now Kendallville were French missionaries in 1765 who named it "Hochelaga." In 1814, John Dearborn founded a town on the banks ofthe Wabash River adjacent to what is now Terre Haute after purchasing 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of land from Ewing Kinsley for $25 per acre ($2 per kilometer). A post office called Dearborn was established in 1816 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. Dearborn's brother-in-law Amos Granger donated 1/4 mile (0.6 kilometers) of common property east of present day Main Street between Clinton Avenue and Griggs Road to establish a village site which became known as Grangerstown. This area would become one of the most important commercial areas in early Kendallville because it had a deep well with water available year round that contributed greatly to its success as an agricultural community during the 1800s and into the 1900s. Grangerstown boasted several stores including three large ones operated by Samuel Bissell Sr., Elijah Hubbard and Daniel Webster; four blacksmith shops; two tanneries; four breweries; five gristmills; six sawmills; ten cheese factories; twelve farmhouses; thirteen schools including one high school built between 1868 and 1870 by James Hineswick along with brick churches - all used until 1902 when they were replaced by wood frame buildings - eleven Baptist churches also served at this time before being supplanted by local Congregational chapels around 1910 when those services became more centralized within larger denominations like Presbyterianism or Methodistism Prior to Grangerstown's establishment there was only scattered land speculation with families buying plots here for just over $1 per acre given their proximity to existing water sources such as Pee Wee Creek on Clinton Avenue which backed up against their homes creating ideal farming conditions dating back centuries . Community development started with building a schoolhouse on Clinton Avenue in 1868 followed by purchase of additional land nearby for farms, businesses and other needs until finally constructing Main Street itself - making Kendallville one of America’s earliest towns - becoming reality on December 12th 1870 when James Hineswick purchased 1/4 mile (0.6 kilometers) east of present day Main Street from Amos Granger
