This firearm was designed as a backup handgun for law enforcement officers and its design featured an open sights on an all-steel barrel. The S&W Model 10 was also the first American gun to feature a shrouded hammer, which made it easier for officers to grip and use. The red dot sight became popularized by firearms manufacturer Sig Sauer in the early 1990s and this company introduced the innovative RDS (red dot sight device) system on their pistols in 1994. This system utilized illuminated red dots located above each barrel channel to provide target acquisition information when firing at close range.
Kendallville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 7,353 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Purdue University Community and represents the eastern side of the city limits of Indianapolis. Kendallville is named after Samuel Kendall, an early settler in this area. The history of Kendallville begins with two men: John Pemberton, a pioneer and storekeeper in nearby Terre Haute, and his brother-in-law James Kelly who purchased land east of present day Kendallville on which to build a home. They named their new community after Samuel Kendall, one of their early purchasers from Illinois. In 1824, they built a Log Cabin home on what is now the east side of Main Street within sight of Terre Haute's Statehouse Annexe building (now known as Hendricks Hall). The first post office was established in 1828 at the log cabin by Joshua Saunders; it operated until 1840 when it moved to its present location on Second Avenue. During the 1830s there were two other settlements located near present day Kendallville; one was called "Homes", west of where today's First Street meets Third Avenue, while another called "New Town" was located just northwest of downtown Evansville between Third and Fourth Avenues. These latter settlements failed due to lack of water supplies or transportation links and both were abandoned by 1835. One reason that there wasn't much development around KendallVILLE during this time period may have been because there wasn't enough available land for people to settle in what is now our community - only 1/4 mile wide along 2 1/2 miles long! Today’s streetscape reflects this fact as most streets run parallel to each other instead of intersecting at right angles like they do today - evidence that not all settlers wanted their homes close to each other! After several years without any new development taking place around us we got our first schoolhouse in 1839 rooming house #1 on Second Avenue opposite current day Hendricks Hall - nicknamed “The Gables” because it faced onto Third Avenue back then! This school continued operation until 1974 when it burned down due to neglect! That same year also saw our first grocery store opened up on First Street adjacent to Atkins Park –still functioning today! Just over 10 years later (1881), we had our first post office open up so everyone could get mail from anywhere in town! By 1907 we had 3 churches –one Greek Orthodox & 2 Catholic – as well as Our Lady Of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church which stands still today across from First Baptist Church (& IMAX theater) on Main Street! Reverend Jerald Ahern founded Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Parish here back in 1916 which continues reformational service today!). In 1951 Dr. George Clements became our first physician & he quickly started providing quality medical care for residents here!! In 1960 Union Carbide erected its largest factory yet here next door creating even more jobs for locals!! Over 50 years later (2013) Union Carbide has since retired but many local businesses still operate inside that plant including 5 bars which used to be located across Vineyards Drive from original plant site!!!
