He became known for his Exceptional Customer Service and his emphasis on quality products at reasonable prices. His store earned him a reputation as one ofAmerica's leading rifle dealers. In 1951, Dickenson passed away at age 90 years old, leaving behind a legacy of success that continues to this day. His son-in-law, Clarence Taney (1902-1994), took over operations of Dickenson's Store after his father's death. During Clarence Taney's tenure, he completely renovated the building and became known as "The Master blaster" because he was able to sell more rifles than any other retailer in America at that time! In 1976, The Taney family sold their business to Adolphus Busch III who renamed it Bushmaster Firearms Corporation & Co., Incorporated (BUSHMASTER). Jeffersonville, Indiana is a city in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 44,423 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Hendricks County. The name "Jeffersonville" was chosen in 1814 by General James K. Polk while he was visiting the area and hearing reports of Native American life and settlement. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Hendricks County were French Huguenots who arrived around 1665. In 1785, English settlers named Jefferson after George Washington as part of a land grant given to John Todd III along with other grants including present-day Indianapolis and Terre Haute. The town's original courthouse was built on the site of today's City Hall building in 1813; it burned down in 1824 but was rebuilt shortly afterward and used until it burned down again in 1870. The city post office opened on October 11, 1836, under the name Greencastle; it changed its name to Jeffersonville on January 1, 1840. On December 5, 1865, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), Union forces destroyed most of downtown Jeffersontown with an estimated 2 tons (4 metric tonnes) of explosives and incendiary rounds when they captured that section during an attack against Confederate forces entrenched there; this event is known as "The Battle of Jeffersonville". A new courthouse was completed in 1870; it burned down again two years later but was reconstructed soon afterward and still uses today as the main courthouse building which also contains government offices for Hendricks County as well as numerous businesses including several banks. That building also housed the first school district schoolhouse which served students from Benton Township until 1912 when all school districts were consolidated into one system under then-Mayor John Ahern's leadership. In 1907–1908 local Joplin brothers starting a fried chicken restaurant called Frito Pie caught fire due to over cooking causing about $5 worth of damage which caused some public outcry before finally being put out by firefighters using slag from their hoses – something that would become standard procedure for any fires involving poultry within city limits even if not related to frying chicken! As such this became known locally as "the battle of Fritos". In 1923 Henderson Wagon Works started production at what are now called Canal Street Speedway adjacent to what is now RiverCenter Mall; that company would eventually merge with US Steel Corporation becoming one giant corporation through acquisitions throughout much OF America during the early 21st century making Jeffersontown home once again to some major Midwestern industrial consolidation! In addition, many residents abandoned their homes during this time period as they found better opportunities elsewhere.Today, Jeffersonville is an important center for research into Indiana history due to its large number of historical buildings and artifacts available for study. The town also enjoys a strong tourist presence thanks to its attractions such as its canalside districts and downtown district."
Jeffersonville was founded in 1814 by a group of Quakers who came from nearby Fort Wayne. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 people. In 1836, the United States acquired Indiana from France, and Jeffersonville became part of the newly formed state. The town continued to grow and expand its businesses until the early 1800s, when it began to experience rapid population loss due to epidemics that swept the area. By 1830, only about 25 people remained in Jeffersonville; however, by 1840, it had shrunk to just 10 residents. By 1850, only two families still lived in the town; however, it continued to grow rapidly until it reached its peak population of 350 people in 1860. By 1870, all but five of Jeffersonville's residents had died; however, it continued to grow slowly until 1880 when its population reached 700 people. However, by 1890s there were only a few remaining residents left in thetownspeople had largely relocated away for economic reasons during this time period
