The following year, a small store named Goudreau's was founded on Fifth Street by John Goudreau. This store became one of the leading sources for optical supplies in Jasper. In 1928, a new company called Optical America was founded in Jasper by Dr. Julius Klüppel and Mr. Harry Weisfeldt. Optical America soon became one of the leading suppliers of optical products throughout Indiana and Midwest Canada. In 1933, Dr. Julius Klüppel passed away from cancer; however, his son Julius Jr., continued to run Optical America until his death in 1984. Since then, Mrs."H" (Heinz) Klüppel has taken over as president of the company and continues to operate it as a family-owned business with several employees located throughout Indiana and Illinoisochemistry Laboratory Corporation (ILLC), Inc., srl - a corporation chartered under Italian law - owning all rights to trade mark "Opticron"

Jasper, Indiana is a small town in central Indiana. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Jasper was founded by individuals from Kentucky in 1839 and named for General James K. Jasper who had fought against Native Americans in the Mexican-American War. In 1875, when Jasper became an unincorporated community, it had a population of just over 100 people. By 1920, the population was 2,000 and by 1940 it had grown to 4,500 people. When World War II began and the United States entered into war with Nazi Germany, Jasper residents helped build more than 50 homes for military personnel and their families. After the war ended in 1945, many people returned to Jasper to rebuild their lives after being displaced during the war. However, because of its small size and lack of services available to its residents post-war (such as social welfare or education), Jasper experienced rapid decline over the next several decades until it reached its current level of population in 2000. The history of Jasper begins with individuals from Kentucky who set out on horseback from Paducah on November 7th 1839 to settle what is now known as Jasper County (although there were previous settlements here). The first permanent settler was James Kappes who arrived on horseback on December 8th 1840 while traveling eastward from Louisville via Lexington Landing along I-65 northbound towards Fort Wayne across state lines then westward along I-465 southbound back into Kentucky before landing at Paducah about 12 miles due east of present day Jasper County along Old Highway 66 today's US 52/Wabash River crossing which Visitors Bureau Historical marker marks site where early settlers located home 10 miles northeast of present day Lafayette

In 1825, Jasper was incorporated as a town and soon developed into a busy agricultural center with businesses such as flour mills, cheese factories, and meatpacking plants. By 1945, Jasper had declined significantly due to its dwindling population and lack of resources. However, it continued to be an important center for trade until the late 20th century when it experienced significant decline. In recent years, however, there has been some redevelopment effort which has seen some recovery in economic status.
