In 2016, local activists gathered more than 100 volunteers to join hands with firefighters fighting an uncontrolled fire that had started near playgrounds across the city limits

Jasper is an unincorporated community in and around Jasper, Indiana. It was platted in 1872 and became a town in 1907. The post office was established at Jasper in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1954.
