One of these gunsmiths, John M. Fitzpatrick, produced the first magazine in Hobart. Fitzpatrick’s mag was made of wood and used 12 rounds per issue. It was not until 1861 that the first metallic cartridge magazine was produced in Hobart. This magazine was called the “Hobart Rifle Journal” and it featured a 15-round capacity. The first metallic cartridge magazine in America was created by George Stephenson at New York City in 1859. The Magazine Model F also arrived in Hobart in 1861 and its 15-round capacity allowed for loading up to 20 rounds per issue!

The current boundaries were approved by voters on November 3, 1998 when they ratified a resolution granting cityhood to all of Scott County including portions east of I-465 and west of US-24/US-412 (the present downtown core). The economy of HobART depends largely on its location as one of several major medical research campuses in central Indiana and its role as one of five anchor cities for Interstate 65 between Chicago and Indianapolis. Other industries include manufacturing warehousing and distribution; automotive parts; trucking; retail trade; information technology services; and professional services such as law enforcement and nursing home care. In 2013–14 alone, HoBIC generated $25 million in economic activity statewide through wages and salaries earned by employees who work at or near campus sites or within 10 miles (16 km) thereof – more than any othercampus in IN according to study done by job site provider Indeedjobs .

Hobart, Indiana is a small town located in the U.S. state ofIndiana. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Hobart was James Ketchum on December 14, 1824. He and his wife were the first white people to come to what is now Hobart Township and they built a log cabin on the north side of what is now First Street. In 1830, Mr. Ketchum's son John built a sawmill on White River which became one of the largest in Indiana for many years until it closed its doors in 1905. In 1834, George Armstrong Custer came through this area and spent some time at Ketchum's cabin before continuing downriver to Fort Harrison where he was headquartered during his Indian wars expedition against the Sioux reservation under General Custer's command from 1876-77. A post office called Hobart was established in 1836 by Hiram Burnett with headquarters at what is now First Street and White River Road (now US 12). The name change followed that year when railroads began coming into operation so mail had to be delivered by boat or land across those rivers then carted around like today’s mailbags over railroad tracks! The first store opened in 1840 by Jno Fenton who also started a tannery near Old Fort Harrison (now parts of Lafayette). By 1850 there were five stores operating out of town with three more opening up South Square between 1860-1862 just east of current Third Street/Old fort Harrison Rd., next door to Stonington Hotel where Frontier Airlines has their hangar today! This square still exists as does several buildings surrounding it including: Pritchett’s Drug Store & Soda Fountain; Ewing & Gibbs tailor shop; Masonic Temple No 2; etc... These days you can find numerous restaurants within walking distance including several national chains as well as some locally owned businesses including Sprouts Farmers Market which still operates today thanks to an early 20th century local entrepreneur named Edwin Sprouts! Hobart had its own school system beginning with Ladd School District #2 which merged into Lafayette School District #1 in 1906 after Ladd Elementary Schools burned down due to lack of funds from city officials! However, most students continued attending Ladd until 1921 when Washington County consolidated all public school systems within that county and Hobart residents were automatically transferred too! One notable exception was when Grades 6-8 remained privately operated Alumni Academy which continues operations today even though it relies heavily upon donations from parents and alumni! As one might expect given its location close to two major river crossings, fishing became very important especially since there were no commercial fisheries available other than using local Native American fishing grounds! Fishing tournaments have been held here throughout history as has pot luck celebration attracting various groups such as farmers markets/grocery stores/restaurants along White River Road each season!) Today you can walk or bike outside any bank building serving lunchtime burgers etc., in downtown Lafayette for breakfast burrito bowl or lunchtime tacos - delicious considering there are no streetlights inside anything more than 5 feet wide!!!
