The current incarnation of Griffintown is just south of downtown Indianapolis on Haig Road (just east of I-465). It has experienced some recent revitalization including a new nightlife district called "the Alley" which opened up along Haig Road last fall; new restaurants; a large arts & culture center - home to both Griffintown’s annual Farmer’s Market Festival – now held on Saturday mornings before lunchtime - as well as several theaters – both local professional productions (theatre performances) as well as regional touring productions; updated housing developments for workers commuting into downtown Indy from surrounding suburban areas; and most recently: plans are being hatched for retail development anchored by two large Kroger Supermarkets at Fourth Street & Meridian Avenue adjacent to Interstate 465/I-465 Airport Drive - making Griffintown one stop you can't help but visit whether coming or going from Indy!
