Griffith, Indiana is a small town located in the state ofIndiana. The population was 5,813 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest city in Indiana and the second-smallest city in Illinois. Griffith is also one of only two cities in Butler County (the other being Terre Haute). The citizens of Griffith are known for their agricultural production and local farmers markets. The town has a small downtown area with several businessesserving the community including a post office, bank, grocery store, restaurant and machine shop. There are also several homes built between 1925 and 1930 that still stand today. In addition to its farming past, Griffith also boasts an activemanufacturing sector with companies manufacturing truck parts, home furnishings and more. Griffith was founded by Judge Johnathon Griffith on November 10th 1819 as a village named Grifftown after his father's land grant from President James Kapp of Philadelphia. The village reached its peak population around 1800 when it had over 100 residents living in homes scattered throughout five blocks on Market Street West. By 1830 Grifftown had shrunk to six houses but growth resumed once Judge Griffith donated land east of Market Street for a new village center which would include four buildings - jail, schoolhouse, store and post office - all now gone but still visible from downtown streetskirts today. An interesting footnote to Grifftown's history is that on December 15th 1831 Mayor Joseph Davenport platted what became known as "Fishers Bend" just north of downtown where he proposed an additional three blocks constituting what would become Fifth Avenue South from Third Street westward bisecting Second Streetskill dividing Griffin into North/South boundaries then east/west boundaries forming what would eventually become Fourth Avenue South from First Street southward bisecting Third Streetskill creating TenthStreetNorthwestof DowntownGriffith becoming one municipality with three wards - Central (east), Park (southwest)and Western (northwest). The original platting efforts associated with early Granger Development Company were spearheaded by John Mearsheimer who served as president until 1873 when he was replaced by J P Biddle who served until 1880 when he too was succeeded by A E Hutton who served until 1889 when Wm L Young took over responsibility for griffin development company operations which continued until 1899 when they merged with Indianapolis Manufacturing Company to form Indianapolis Engineering Company Incorporation Limited Partnership organized under Indiana State Corporation law #2116 granting legal personality to the company name thereby preserving individual ownership interests among its corporate successors up through current day operation! On October 15th 1903Judge Johnathon Griffith died suddenly at age 83 leaving behind his wife Sarah Jane Johnston daughter of Dr Samuel Johnston Flower; children Anna Marie Johnston Ennis Morrissey born May 25th 1906 griffin postoffice box 12609 griffin indiana 46224 Anna Mae Griffen married March 24th 1934 To Edward Rowe Brown Jr son Of Edward Rowe Brown Sr born October 2nd 1922 both living in griffin

One such pioneer was Clarence Epps who created the first air pistol in 1912 using a rotary action to fire rounds off a barrel. Other inventors followed suit with their own inventions over the next few years until finally, in 1916, Hiram Maxim developed the world’s first true machine gun which he named the “Sabre Machine Gun”
