In 1865, when Indiana became a state, the courthouse became the State Capitol building in Indianapolis In 1892-93, Greenwood constructed one of two new high schools inIndiana Territory-the other being Highland High School which would become Bloomington High School later that same year. The school's first principal was Mrs J Faddis who served from 1893 until her retirement in 1912 Greenwood has experienced many changes over time including growth due to industrialization with factories opening up along its borders; however it has generally retained its smalltown atmosphere with an emphasis on family values and community service

Greenwood is a small town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. It was founded in 1853 by theuriak Greenwood and his wife, Linnie. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is one of three towns in Kosciusko County that are still inhabited as of the 2010 census. The other two are Petersburg and Westville. Greenwood's first settlers were Judd and Smith families who arrived in 1853. In 1860, John Jacob Weiser bought land east of downtown Greenwood from Judd family for $2 per acre (1/8th of a mile). He named the land University Heights because it had been given to him by President James K. Polk as part of the Compromise Of 1850. The following year, he soldUniversity Heights to his son-in-law Maurice Aikens for $4 per acre (1/16th of a mile). Maurice Aikens developed University Heights into what is known today as Greenwood Village. He built several buildings including the first public school on University Heights which was completed in 1868. The original town hall building still stands today on Water Street near where Highway 56 crosses over from Kosciusko County Road 9 to State Road 41 near Greenewood Lake: it was built in 1901 by Judge John Ladd with money donated by Vernon Swayne and others after Ladd's store burned down while he was presiding over a court case nearby; later enlarged and renamed the courthouse; now used as apartments or office space. A short distance south of town on US-56 lies greenewood lake which served as an early swimming hole for residents of Greenwood Village before it became clear that water resources could no longer be managed without irrigation through canal systems; so greenewood lake became an open space accessible only during summertime when village residents could go there to swim nude or sunbathe nude while children enjoyed paddleboats or fishing from the edge of the water
Greenwood was founded in 1824 by Methodist missionaries. The community grew rapidly and by 1830, Greenwood had a population of 350 people. By 1840, Greenwood had become an independent town. In 1854, Greenwood became the county seat of Union County and remained so until 1971 when it was moved to Indianapolis.
