In 1984, following passage of U.S. Tax Reform Act TurboTax created an economic boom for Downtown Greensburg as local merchants began to sell products other than groceries such as software and services offered through internet businesses (later known as eCommerce). Unfortunately this prosperity did not last long because whileTurboTax profits increased 50%, employment rates fell 2%. This led to further declines in retail spending over time until current levels where Downtown Greensburgh has approximately 1/3 its pre-1984 workforce but little or no commercial activity beyond selling ice cream from trucks parked along State Street between High School & First Baptist Church each summer during July BBQ season! Although some new commercial development has emerged recently including: A Dunkin' Donuts -formerly part of Papa John's Pizza -opened Spring 2018 adjacent to First Baptist Church off Market Street; Hometown Hardware opened early 2018 across from Interstate 465 on Courtland Avenue; also vacant since closure by former owner several years ago is currently being used as an outdoor storage lot for automobiles however no physical connection exists between these businesses - yet!!!
