Gun magazines have a long and varied history in Greensburg, Indiana. There are several different types of gun mags available on the market today, but the earliest gun magazines were probably made from wood. Kentucky Rifleman was founded in 1852 by John H. Wauconda and Allen J. Cook, both of whom were Shooters Association members. The magazine quickly became popular in the early days of American firearms regulation, and it was first published monthly. In 1853, the American Shotgun wasn’t yet Legal tender, so Shooters Association member Samuel Gregg started publishing Shotgun Monthly (later renamed Gun Digest). This magazine was also published quarterly until 1861 when it changed to bi-monthly due to financial struggles. Between 1853 and 1860 there were at least 11 other publications that originated in Greensburg which all served as means for shooters to share information and experiences with one another. The first guns imported into America were handguns – not rifles or shotguns! So began what would become an important part of our firearms culture – the importation of firearms from Europe through shipments like this one: In 1865, George Washington Carver organized a group of farmers to import pistols from France under the auspices of “The League for Progress and Justice”. The purpose was to provide arms for farmers who had been forced into Rebellion against their own government because they could not afford them! This event is often cited as starting the modern pistol cartridge industry! Although handguns played an important role during much of our history, rifles/shotguns really took off after Europeans brought over large numbers of these devices into America in search of new markets! Greensburg is a small town in West Virginia and is located about 20 miles south of Charleston. According to the 2010 census, the population was 2,651. Greensburg was founded in 1825 by Benjamin Green and his family. The Green family constructed a gristmill on the confluence of the Elk River and Potomac River. The mill continued to operate until 1840 when it burned down. From 1840-1865, Greensburg was served by a post office called Mechanicsville. In 1865, Greensburg became an incorporated town after being chosen as one of several sites for an intended new capital of West Virginia but no money was ever appropriated to build the capital. In 1892, Greensburg voters passed a resolution urging the U.S. Congress to annex West Virginia because they saw this state's lack of representation in Congress as unfairness; however, this resolution did not receive attention from Washington until 1893 when Congressman Jameson Coleman moved for legislation annexing West Virginia without first consulting with local officials. After learning about this change in policy, Representative Coleman requested that Secretary of War Edwin Mudd investigate what he perceived as irregularities at the annexation meeting which resulted in Ladd's Land Company acquiring most of neighboring Monongalia County for $2 million However no further action was taken on recognition until 1895 when Congressman George Wickersham moved for recognition including incorporation into West Virginia This same year saw another effort by Representatives Coleman and Wickersham to get recognition including incorporation intoWestVirginiaThe bill failed due to lack of support from both sides within Congress In 1912, Benjamine Green died leaving two children: Vivian (born 1894) and Harold (born 1896). Vivian married John Hinton while Harold married Mildred McHugh who would become Mrs. John Fenton Fosterometime around 1920 or 1921 Greenburgh Elementary School opened up with kindergarten through 8th grade followed by High School which started up in 1926 According to history books there have been school closings here and there throughout various incarnations but it seems like school has only really started back up again recently- maybe something wrong with my data?
