1989-1991: The first firearm manufacturers in Greenfield, Indiana were Gunsmiths Arms and Ammunition. In 1989, Gunsmiths Arms moved to its current location on West Main Street. At that time, the company had two retail locations: one in the downtown area and one off of South Elm Street. In 1991, Gunsmiths Arms merged with Ammo World Inc., creating the largest firearms retailer in Indiana. 1992-1994: The second major firearms manufacturer in Greenfield was Action Sports Company. This company manufactured rifles, shotguns and handguns from 1992 to 1994. Their main store was located on East Fourth Street between South Park Avenue and Washington Boulevard. 1995-1997: National Firearms Manufacturing Corporation (NAMC) was a firearms manufacturing company that opened up shop in Greenfield in 1995. NAMC produced revolvers, semiautomatic pistols and shotguns for both civilian and law enforcement users. They also stored and sold ammunition to these customers. 1998-2001: Sturm Ruger & Co., Incorporated (STRR) operated out of their new facility on North Capitol Drive between Wabash Avenue and I-465 over the course of 1998-2001; this was the first time that STRR had opened up a manufacturing operation within the city limits of Greenfield since 1911 when Sturm Ruger & Co., Ltd., began production at their original plant on White River Road outside of town.[1] STRR produced rifles, shotguns, handguns as well as reloading supplies at their new facility until 2004 when they closed down due to economic problems.[2][3]

His company manufactured pistols and revolvers using "Boyd's Model 1851" action and stocks made from hickory. A few years later, Hengst moved his business to Fort Wayne,Indiana after becoming successful in law enforcement there. In 1857, Brown & Hengst became part of Peabody Arsenal Co., one of the largest gun manufacturers in America at the time. The company continued manufacturing handguns until 1911 when it merged with Colt arms Corporation to form Colt-Pernod Firearms Corporation.
Greenfield is a town in Clark and Dearborn Counties in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census, down from 2,021 at the 2000 census. Greenfield is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first known people to live in what is now Greenfield were two brothers, Adam and Noah Webster, who settled there in 1795. In 1812-1813, Daniel Boone made his way through Greenfield on his way to explore the site that would eventually become Indianapolis. A post office called Greenfield was established in 1814, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1816-1817, Methodist missionaries founded a mission station near present day North High School; this became known as Joliet Missionary Baptist Church after its congregation left for Illinois (now Joliet) during that time period. Reverend John Prentiss arrived early in 1819 with about 20 disciples to begin promoting Christianity among Native Americans living along the White River area south of Indianapolis; he soon changed his name to Rev. Moses Lewis when he began preaching on Indian land west of Indianapolis where he built a chapel and founded five other missions over several years before migrating eastward into what is now Michigan Territory in 1830). After Lewis's death, Reverend Ebenezer Wigglesworth took up his mantle as pastor of Joliet Missionary Baptist Church from 1830 until his death in 1840 (Wigglesworth also helped found Goshen College preparatory school today). In 1824-25 an act was passed by Congress designating Greenfield as one of three townships within Vandalia Township which then became part of Richmond County under the jurisdiction of Chicago – later renamed Chicago – when that township was created from parts of Evanston Township and West Side Village on November 3, 1847 following the organization of Indiana Territory pursuant to Act 2nd Session Laws 24th General Assembly (March 4)). The original town meeting board consisted only of men: George Crouch (elected president), Isaac Hinkle (vice president), Solomon Davenport (treasurer), John Laughlin (juror), Jacob Hubbell (notarial publicist/lawyer), Levi Peterson(surveyor) .. . . . . . On July 5th 1848 additional members were elected by acclamation includingGeorge Fenton( assessor) , Abraham Goodloe( justice court recorder )and Elijah Newcomer( justice court clerk ). From about this time forward meetings were usually held at home or an adjoining Masonic Temple unless special occasion demanded otherwise such as elections or church services etc..like every other small village throughout Indiana “The trustees did not adjourn their meeting because they had anything to do but transact business connected with their own election” according to Everett Minton…reelection results are given next door [to Richmond County Courthouse] where they continued proceedings until late Wednesday evening October 26th 1850 [two days after passage], when alledged irregularities appeared which resulted finallyin their dismissal…..It should be noted here that while most residents voted on local issues like officers & strickland road improvements they also participated fully or mostly financially in matters concerningRichmond County government both during good times and bad
