At that time, firearms were often wielded with either one or two hands, and it was necessary for shooters to have some form of control over them. A hand-held firearm would not function as efficiently if the shooter could not keep it steady in their hand. To prevent this from happening, gun grips were developed. One of the earliest gun grips was designed by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. This design consisted of a piece of wood or metal that was inserted into one side of a barrel and was attached to the rifle using wire or leather straps. The Gun Grip remained in use until 1865 when it was replaced by the modern trigger guard grip

Greenfield is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–Hamilton County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Greenfield was Nicholas Purdy who arrived on July 6, 1814. Greenfield was platted in 1825 by John and Anna Ketchum. The Ketchums were the first white people to live in what is now Hendricks County when they came overland from Kentucky. They named their land "Greenfield" after their home state of New York. In 1830, David Cook bought 5 acres (2 ha) of land north of present-day Greenfield and built a cabin there called Cook's Cabin which still stands today. He married Mary Suggs and settled there with his family until 1836 when he sold all his property to John Fenton for $1,200 cash plus barns, tools, cattle and horses. Fenton began operating an agricultural community that would become known as "The Village". He organized a church on January 8, 1840 and named it Saint Peter's Church which still stands today. A post office was established at Greenfield on November 14, 1840 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907 due to lack of mail capability within the town limits alone! In 1851 Fenton erected a large frame schoolhouse which still sits today! David Cook also started a gristmill here which became one of the most important businesses in The Village during its early years; grinding corn for local mills into flour and meal while also selling eggs & milk products from our oldenfashioned farmstead kitchen ovens! This mill continued operation until 1917 when it caught fire due to careless maintenance! It has been said that if it weren't for this unfortunate incident we may never have heard about Grainsville Park - now known as Hendricks National Historical Park!

One such concept was the Allen wrench; this tool allowed shooters to quickly adjust their Grip position on firearms by unscrewing it's head until the desired fit was achieved (resembling an adjustable strap).[1] This innovation soon became standard on all American firearms including revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.[2][3] The Allen wrench eventually evolved into the modern pistol recoil pad; this device helps keep guns stable during firing by providing extra support around the trigger finger[4]. Pistol recoil pads first appeared on shotguns in the early 1960s,[5] but they had only limited success due to their high cost and lack of widespread adoption.[6] In 1961 however, Samuel Colt submitted his first revolver with Nightfighter recoil pads built into its stock.[7][8] This innovative design would later be adopted by other manufacturers including Glock,[9] Smith & Wesson[10], Colt[11], Ruger[12], Sig Sauer[13], Springfield Armory[14], along with many other brands over the years. Greenfield, Indiana is a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana that was founded in 1837. The population was 661 at the 2010 census. Greenfield is located on the banks of the River Red and is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenfield's nickname, "The Flower Capital of America", comes from its location as one of the leading producer and exporter of flowers in the United States. The village began as a small settlement on the bank of the River Red where farmers had been growing corn and other vegetables for centuries before it became known for its production of flowers, which are still an important part of Greenfield's economy today. The first home in Greenfeldt Township was built by Captain John Davenport in 1837 and he named it Indian Head after his hunting ground in Michigan Territory near present-day Detroit. By 1840, there were twelve homes in Greenfeldt Township and thirteen residents were living there when it merged with Terre Haute Township to form this current incarnation of Greenfield Village on March 1, 1881. In 1890, Anna Jethro Gibbs opened her successful grocery store at 12th & Washington Streets which soon became a landmark within town limits due to its high quality products and wide variety available through its shelves - much like how Amazon now dominates ecommerce across North America! In 1902-1903, Gertrude Atherton donated land adjacent to her home at 12th Street & Washington Street which served as their town square until 1914 when they moved into their current building at 125 N Main St., becoming one of only two townships (the other being Peru) in Hoosier County to have such an important civic center! Today, Greenfield remains a vibrant community with several businesses active throughout each day including three banks (one national), two grocers/grocery stores (Anna Jethro Gibbs from 1890-1902 & Gertrude Atherton from 1902-1914), three restaurants ( ribs + more than 20 items different types ), four full service schools (three technical/trade schools; one professional school), two churches (the First Baptist Church & Christ Episcopal Church), two parks - Fountain Park & West Side Park - totaling over 50 acres (!), five libraries (& one additional branch open since 2018!), three golf courses (& one new course open since 2018!), six bars/restaurants (& many more closed since 2016!), fifteen shopping centers (#4 overall sales volume last year) squeezed into just over one million sq ft (~200 buildings) all within easy walking distance! And that doesn't include any annexed areas such as Villa Hills or Highland Heights; those towns have even more people! Greenfield was founded in 1827 by James Greenfield. The town grew rapidly and soon became a manufacturing center, with greenfields such as the mills, theological school, and hospital being developed. In the late 19th century, the steel industry began to grow in Greenfield, and the town became a major shipping point for products made from steel. However, by the early 21st century, Greenfield's economy had begun to decline as a result of competition from nearby towns. In 2017, Greenfield united with neighboring cities of Decatur and Lafayette to form the city of Indianapolis.
