In 1874 an Agricultural Society was organized which grew into what is now known as The United Brethren Church (UBC) in downtown Green Castle; this congregation had begun services at First Presbyterian Church on Main Street while they awaited construction of their own building which finally opened in 1888 adjacent to Michigan Avenue Subway Station - one block east of current day KFC location! In 1916 Charles Fenton became Mayoralty Clerk; during his tenure duties included printing all city ordinances including schedules for meetings & ballots; responsible for preparing all certificates & licenses; issuing cashier's checks & warrants; accounting for government spending totaling over $3 million dollars including street improvements projects & numerous monies received by corrupt politicians from businessmen friends - all without ever going along with any requests made by those same businessmen friends!Mayor Fenton retired from office on December 31st 1966 after more than 25 years service! He was succeeded by James Breen who served until 1970 then Clarence Weems who continued until 1976 when he left to take up a position with Genesee County Treasurer’s Office causing layoffs throughout the entire municipality!!! George Vandyke took over from him and served until 1984!!! Finally Rick Meyers took office effective January 1st 1985 thru September 30th 1988!!
