In 1916, the American Legion changed its name to United Daughters of America (UDA). The UDA increased its membership from 1,000 members to 20,000 by 1928. By that time it had also organizedarate unit called "The White Rose" which served as an honor guard for Uda president Franklin D. Roosevelt during his visit to Indianapolis in 1932-33. In 1938-39 an amendment was passed through Congress making all semiautomatic rifles automatic within 10 days after delivery/purchase of each type of weapon with a $100 serial number verification fee imposed on dealers who did not comply; this amendment effectively banned all handgun sales without a permit from being made at gun shows or other public events until such time as permits could be obtained from local police departments/firearms stores; this prohibition remained effective until 1986 when it was Repealed by Congress under section 922(a) of title 44

Greencastle is a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana, located on the eastern border of Lake Michigan. The population was 7,905 at the 2010 census, making it the third smallest municipality in Indiana and one of the smallest cities in Indiana by population size. The community was first settled by refugees from Upper Canada who had fled during the American Revolutionary War. The name Greencastle is derived from "greens" (a type of hay) and "castles" (a fort). settlement began on a small spit of land that bordered both rivers, but it soon became apparent that there were too few trees to provide lumber for building and many people died from malaria and other diseases brought over from British America. A group of men led by Captain John Prentice purchased 640 acres (247 hectares) in 1824 to build an agricultural village which they named Greencastle after their purchase date. In 1829, when traffic along what is now I-90 was improved with a road northward from Chicago, Greencastle became an important stop on this route; as such, it grew rapidly in its early days as a commercial center with several stores, a post office, two hotels and numerous homes being built throughout its length including some still extant today. In 1855–56 when Indianapolis greatly expanded into its present form due to rising rail traffic and industry east of downtown Indy., Greencastle saw limited growth because most residents continued to commute to Indianapolis or take jobs in nearby factories or towns. However, when new shopping malls opened up near downtown Indianapolis beginning around that time and more people started moving into Greencastle for work rather than live closeby for economic reasons, Growth resumed among those living within the limits of modern day Greencastle proper. Today nearly all citizens within city limits are employed within localities outside Interstate 90’s commuting area such as Fishers/Washburn/Elkhart County or Hammond/New Albany County although some continue to reside within original township limits long enough for themselves to enjoy greenflags issued through government programs like special development districts etc……. Greencastle is a city in and the county seat of Greencastle County, Indiana, United States. The population was 381 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1814 by General David Wilkinson as a small settlement on the Wabash River near what is now Fort Wayne. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the river and its position as an important transportation hub for settlers moving westward during the 1840s and 1850s. By 1871, Greencastle had become one of Indiana's largest cities with a population of 9,500. The city was incorporated as a city on January 1, 1892. Growth continued through the years and by 1951 it had grown to its current size of over 2 million people within an area of just over 207 square miles (650 km2). In 2007, Greencastle became one of only two American cities (the other being Tucson) to be honored with UNESCO World Heritage designation for its architecture and history.
