Goshen, Indiana is a small town in the US state ofIndiana. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of Kosciusko County and is located on the eastern border of the county. Goshen is one of three villages in Kosciusko County that are home to the Goshen Junior College (GJC). GJC offers associate degree programs in business, engineering and science. In addition to its associate degree programs, GJC also offers bachelor's degrees in education and health sciences. The history of Goshen begins with two families who began farming there in 1825. By 1829, four other families had joined them and by 1830, all ten families were living together on a small farm called "Higgins". The first post office was established at Goshen in 1836; it was named for Major General James Hinkle Higgins, who served as commander of United States forces during the Mexican-American War. When Kosciusko County was created from portion of Lawrence County on December 14, 1800*, it consisted only of land within present-day Kosciusko County except for a small parcel lying east of modern day Goshen* which became part of what is now Lawrence Township*. On April 26, 1851*, when Lawrence Township was organized from portions of Higgins Township and Whitmore Township*, Goshen residents voted to annex their village into the new township*. As residents moved out onto their newly annexed land they built several homes which still stand today - including one known as "The Grange" which has been preserved as a museum* since 1954. When Lawrence Township disbanded on December 14th 1960*, all its lands within present-day Goshen were annexed by KosciusKOeCounty *. In 1924 local school trustees decided to close low income schools open to students age six through twelve due to lack enrollment** so they opened up new high school buildings across town (now known as GJC) which soon became overcrowded with students from neighboring towns**.* That same year *the first post office opened at G JC after yearslong efforts by local citizens*!'

Goshen is a small town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Goshen was founded in 1802 by Methodist missionaries from Manchester, England. It is the county seat of Hancock County. Goshen is within the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Goshen was James Ransom who came to the area with his family in 1802. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Wabash River near present day North Main Street and East State Road. James Ransom and his wife were the parents of frontier farmer John Aiken Ransom who also settled in Goshen around this time; he built a log cabin on what is now Elm Street. In 1803, Methodist missionaries George Crippen and Joshua Coffin arrived in Goshen from Manchester, England with their families to spread Christianity among Native Americans living along the Wabash River valley. They began construction of a chapel on land donated by Samuel Whitehead for this purpose and named it "Goshene Chapel." The first services were held there on December 5th, 1803. Upon completion of the chapel, they traveled northward to evangelize other Native American groups living near Stroudsburg in Westmoreland County (now Butler). A few years later (1807), Revs George Crippen and Joshua Coffin organized an additional group of Methodist missionaries called "The Christian Missionary Society" which conducted religious services among Native Americans near present day South Water Street and Fourth Avenue south of downtown Goshen; these services continued until 1830 when all Indian missions were discontinued due to funding cuts by Congress following President James Kenedy's Executive Order #6706 providing for Indian Removal proceedings authorized under treaties reached between Great Britain and America during that period In 1814 Amos Hodge opened a store at what is now Main Street where he sold goods including groceries, saddles and wagon parts to settlers living along Wabash River Valley shoresline east of Springfield Township due west of Chicago Heights then continuing eastward into Hancock County until he closed his business operations around 1830 or so - probably about 1840 when most stores had closed down as transportation became more available across state lines thanks to railroads! During this early era some interesting incidents took place: In 1815 one Mr Brown bought four hundred acres (~40 km²) next to Big Spring Creek from David Whitcomb for $300 (). This tract would become part Of present day Hoskinsdale township . In 1830 Dr John Ziegler moved from Logansport (now Vigo) IN & set up shop about 4 miles SE OF GOSHEN buying 100 bushels (.25 kg) @ $1 per bushel () & selling alive @ $2/kg livecattle eunuchs at $2/male (), Grasshoppers at @$0/dozen (), Lice at 50¢ each (). He raised 150 head total (& 3 hogs), got 2 cows off Free Range & 10 pigs off pastured haystack .) At ground level some buildings still stand today like Old Store Building which stood just S side main drag w Pioneer Courtyard . For many years after Ziegler's death many people visited this spot wondering how such an enterprising man could have managed such things given today's infrastructure! After General Tom Thumb invaded Iahegan Nation soil areas southwest of Fort Wayne during Pontiac Campaign (1812-13) residents nearby began stockpiling foodstuffs & munitions anticipating an attack so they could relocate if necessary but nothing happened...until October 24th 1862 when 7 cannonballs caused roundabout destruction inside old stage coach home just EAST OF GOSHEN while passengers were traveling back home From military barracks located NE corner lot! This event led to current day name 'Roundabout Rd' being applied to old village because it used TO be called 'Ford Rd'
