Goshen, Indiana is a small town located in the central part of the United States. The population was 8,844 at the 2010 census. From 1792 until 1871, Goshen was under Spanish Rule and had no gun laws of its own. In that year, a group of American Revolutionary soldiers who were on their way to join General George Washington's army came through Goshen and stopped in town for supplies. They brought with them some firearms they had acquired while fighting in England. Thereafter, Goshen began to have its own gun laws and became one of the leading gun-producing communities in America. The first firearms ever manufactured in Goshen were handguns made by Nicholas Flourish & Company from 1792-1794. After that, production switched to rifles and pistols until 1871 when it all transitioned back to handguns again because there wasn't enough demand for rifles or pistols after the Civil War ended. Glock Manufacturing Company was founded here in 1896 by Adolph Glickman and has been manufacturing handguns ever since. Today, Glock manufactures more than 100 different types of handguns including Sig Sauer rifles and revolvers as well as several types of shotguns including pump shotguns and 12 gauge shotguns. In 1931, gunslinger Earl Stonington opened a shooting range called "The Earl" in nearby Newtonville which quickly became one of the most popular shooting ranges in America due to its excellent conditions (dry powder only). It closed down in 1982 but reopened as an indoor range later that same year with improved amenities such as video screens and air conditioning which helped make it even more popular among shooters around the world

Over the years, other handgun manufacturers have located in Goshen as well: Smith & Wesson (1911-1968), Winchester Repeating Arms Company (1886-1912), Remington Arms (1890-1955), and Savage Arms Corporation (1900-2001).

Goshen is located on the eastern border of Jefferson County and has a total area of 23 square miles (60 km2). The first European to visit Goshen was French missionary François de la Rochefoucauld in 1814. He named it for Saint George, patron saint of military campaigns. A post office called Goshen was established in 1837, and remained in operation until it been discontinued in 1906. Goshen's early growth came from farming and lumbering during the 1800s; when railroads reached the area, industry took over production. By 1930, the community had developed into a major commercial center with several thousand residents and two hospitals. However, World War II led to dramatic reductions in family size and economic stability; by 1970, Goshen had only 710 residents remaining. In that year, the last resident died; since then, much of Goshen's commercial development has come from its proximity to larger cities such as Terre Haute and Lafayette.
Goshen, Indiana was originally called "New Goshen." It was founded in 1812 by Methodist missionaries. The town became a village in 1824. In 1848, the United States Congress passed the Act for the Protection of Indian Property in Indiana, which established the Fort Dearborn Indian Institute. Goshen became an incorporated city in 1865.
