Gun sights, also known as shooting sights or range sights, are devices used to help shooters hit targets at a distance by adjusting the aiming point of the rifle or shotgun. A gun sight is either an adjustable rear iron sight or a front post sight. The first handguns were designed with iron sights and these were most commonly used in militaries and law enforcement. With the development of machine guns, it became necessary for those using them to have sighting devices on their rifles that could be adjusted so that they could accurately shoot over long distances. In 1857, George Stephenson developed what would become the American Rifle which featured a rotating stock that allowed the shooter to adjust the height of his sight picture from direct eye level to any desired elevation (elevation being measured in degrees). This gave rise togun sights as we know them today. It was not until 1861 when Abraham Lincoln issued Executive Order 6256 which mandated all armies must use fixed bayonets on their firearms and introduced windage adjustment on Winchester Model 1851 rifles. Franklin, Indiana is an unincorporated community in Hancock County, Indiana. The post office at Franklin was established in 1868, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. As of the 2010 census, the population of Franklin was 1,898. The area now known as Franklin was part of what is now Fort Wayne Township. It became part of Hancock County on July 15, 1836. In 1855, a post office called "Franklin" was established at a place near the current site of Fort Wayne; it continued to be used until 1907. In 1872, a group of settlers led by Levi Morton located what are now the communities of Goshen and Sparta on land that had been part of Fort Wayne Township since its creation. They named their new settlement after Franklin D Roosevelt (the 34th president of the United States). The town began to grow rapidly, becoming one of the largest settlements in central Indiana before it lost its status as an incorporated town when it merged with other portions of Hancock County on January 1, 1907.

Another common type of sight system is called iron sights. Iron sights use two small lenses fitted onto your rifle's barrel in order to focus your view onto a specific target (or group) located several inches away from you - this can be useful for aiming at close ranges or for accurating shots taken beyond 100 yards (91 meters). However, iron sights tend to require much more time and effort to set up than other types of sighting devices; furthermore, they may not work well in very high-stress situations where multiple targets might be present at once - such as during combat or competition shooting competitions).

Franklin was founded in 1795 by James Franklin and his brother-in-law, Nicholas G. Clairmont. The original site for the town was a clearing on the north side of the current city of Indianapolis, near what is now called the Indiana Statehouse. The name "Franklin" was chosen because of its similarity to "Frantz," one of France's most famous patriots. The town grew rapidly, and within a few years had a population of around 100 people. In 1800, Franklin became the first county seat of Marion County. In 1803, it annexed portions of Posey and Hendricks counties to form Hamilton County. In 1836, Jeffersonville (the present day city) was founded as a result of an agreement between Franklin and Genesee Senator John Fisk; both men were natives of Delaware County (which comprises much today's southern suburbs). In 1847, Indianapolis became state capital after Indiana became a U.S. state; however, due to its small size compared to other U.S. states at that time, Franklin continued to serve as its county seat throughout this time period. On January 1st, 1907 – exactly 150 years after its founding – Franklin merged with nearby Plainfield into one municipality under the name "Indianapolis." The merger resulted in increased competition for municipal services from neighboring towns which saw their populations grow by leaps and bounds during that decade alone: Plainfield not only outgrew Indianapolis but also began building new civic buildings such as libraries and theaters while Indianapolis effectively disbanded its police force and all public works programs in order to focus exclusively on providing services within its own municipality boundaries! Although many aspects have changed over time – including populations (!), service levels (police officers are now only provided within Indy Municipal limits!), economic conditions – overall Franklins remain an important part of history & culture in south central Indiana!

Franklin was founded in 1795 by Benjamin Franklin. The city grew quickly and became a center for learning and culture, hosting many famous people such as Thomas Jefferson, James K. Polk, and Abraham Lincoln. In 1871, the city was renamed Indianapolis after General George Washington, who had served as its first Mayor.
