Frankfort is a town in Kosciuszko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. Frankfort is home to Purdue University and the Frankfort Cavalry Museum. The first European settlement in Kosciuszko County was made by French traders on July 8, 1779. The first white settler in what is now Kosciuszko County was Nicholas de Bourg who arrived on a ship called "Dieu Sœur" in December of that year. Bourg built a cabin on the bank of the Wabash River and named it Bourbonnais after his home county of France. A second pioneer group arrived in 1781 when Pierre Lacroix came overland from Canada with his family and named their new land Acadia after Acadia, Nova Scotia, where he had been born and raised. In 1784, James Chalmers erected the first permanent structure in what is now Frankfort – an adobe cabin which he named Indian Camp. In 1814, during the Mexican-American War (1846-1847), Lafayette enlisted as a private in Company K of the Seventh Infantry Regiment under General Winfield Scott and served until his death at Monterrey City Center on March 14th of that year. On October 25th of that year California admitted America as a state; this event is considered to be one of the opening shots for American Civil War (1861-1865). As part of American plans for occupying Mexico City following Mexican independence from Spain, General Winfield Scott ordered Captain John Cushing to prepare 4 regiments totaling 992 men for occupation duty within 3 days – including 400 cavalrymen under Colonel Elijah Prentiss – at El Paso de la Frontera near present day Frankfort. On November 21st 1848 General Scott ordered Brigadier General Jesse James to march from San Antonio along Isthmus Zapata with 2 companies each composed mostly of volunteers led by Major George Crook to take possession of Monterrey City Center without having fought any actual battles or encounters with Mexicans while en route there; this order marked one milestone in Ulysses S Grant’s military career1 In total James' force numbered 10 companies plus artillery support numbering 2400 troops2 James marched all night but only reached Monterrey about daylight on November 22nd where they were met by Spanish defenders who opened fire resulting in several losses for both sides3 After reaching Monterrey they found no supplies or allies available so decided to retreat back into Texas4 However upon reaching Laredo they received word that President Manuel Lopez also intended to enter Mexico via this route5 General Winfield Scott then ordered Lieutenant Colonel David Ewell's brigade consisting mainly volunteer infantry led by Col Jonathan Davenport6 eastward towards Zacatecas7 This order resulted in heavy casualties for both sides8 Finally arriving at Zacatecas about sunset onNovember 25th9 Davenport discovered treasure hoard estimated at $100 million10 These events helped spur America's annexation of Texas as well as give rise to legends like OldMexicanMan11 Aftermath: There were ongoing efforts by settlers such as John Wesley Powell who tried unsuccessfully variously to persuade Mexico not to recognize American annexation efforts through peaceful means or even Diplomatic Immunity12 In 1871 when territorial boundaries were defined following Kansas' admission into Union as an independent state two towns close enough together - Frankfort Township northwest corner Frenchman Creek west line square mile edge southeast corner - became consolidated into one entity thirteen years later13 When Kosciuszko County was organized its seat moved from Bourbonnais east side village square mile south side15 By 1905 there were 2200 people living here16 The population continued increasing steadily until 1929 when it reached 300017 In 1959 it had increasedTo its current levelof 1752
