Fishers is a city in and the county seat of Fisher County, Indiana, United States. The population was 31,291 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Indiana after Indianapolis and Bloomington. The city is home to Purdue University and many small businesses. At that time, guns were still bought and sold legally through retailers like Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., which operated stores along State Road 9 south of town. In 1871, Brown & Company merged with another gun magazine company, Hennepin Arsenal & Manufacturing Company, creating what would become American Ammunition Corporation (AAC). From then until 1978 AAC was headquartered at 611 North Capitol Street in downtown Fishers. In 1978 AAC relocated its operations to 801 North Capitol Street within the now demolished old Goodyear Tire building before moving again to their current location on Division Street inside the walls of Purdue University's Dormitories on October 3, 1984. The current AAC headquarters building was completed in early 2006 and seats about 350 people including employees from both American Ammunition Corporation and major arms manufacturers – Samuel Adams Arms Inc., Colt Firearms USA LLC., EAA Inc., Savage Arms Corp., Smith & Wesson USA LLC., Sauer AG – making it one of largest ammunition distributors in the Midwest.. In recent years AAC has also begun producing ammunition for use with rifles under license from various rifle manufacturers such as Barrett Firearms Holdings Ltd., Bushmaster Firearms Corp., Ruger firearms LLC., Sigarms AG etc..

Fishers is located on the southern edge of the Knob Creek watershed. The first settler in what is now Fishers was James Fenton in 1814. He and his family built a log cabin on the banks of the Knob Creek near present-day downtown Fishers. By 1825, John Sitch had arrived from England and started trading with Native Americans near present-day Council Bluffs. In 1828, John Aiken founded an agricultural settlement called Aiken's Landing on Elk Fork of the Knob Creek about east of today's downtown Fishers. This site became known as Aiken's Landing Park after John Aiken's death in 1850. In 1836, James Ladd purchased land along Elk Fork of the Knob Creek from George Washington Stephenson for $2,000 dollars and laid out a townsite including what is now downtown Fishers on May 3, 1836. The original town plat included three blocks south of where it stands today: one block west of Main Street and two blocks north of Second Avenue On July 1, 1876, Knox County was created from portions of Johnson and Posey Counties; as a result, fishers became its new county seat. On November 15th 1907 (just four months afterKnoxville), fisherman Elijah Payne donated land to make up for any loss that may have been incurred when that part of Johnson County became part of newly created Shelby Township (now Plainfield). As per this donation agreement between Elijah Payne and plainfield trustees Raymond Kapp and Harry Bergeron dated November 15th 1907: "The said Elijah Payne will donate to Plainfield Township...all or any part thereof lying within Range 8 N [northwest] line thence curved southeastward by said range 8 N to Range 9 W [west], inclusive" It should be noted that according to township boundaries at this time - which were slightly different than where they are today - Range 8 N would include most or all modern day Lafayette before curving southwestward towards ranges 9 W & 10 E - which would include much older parts currently within current day Council Bluffs/Fishers
