Gun targets have been a part of Evansville, Indiana since the 1800s. The first target was a tree in the town square. A person would drive an arrow through the top of the tree and hope to hit someone else on the square below. There were also several bow range tournaments held in Evansville back then that were used for hunting purposes only. In 1907, a local gun club started creating what is now known as "The Big Game Course" which today remains one of Evansville's most popular shooting venues. This course features many different types of targets including bulls-eye, 6x6 inch, 2 3/4 inch, 3 1/2 inch and 5 1/2 inch circles. In Evansville, Indiana, the first gun target was set up on July 20th of 1836. It was a two-gun clay pigeon shoot at the Indian mound on South Harbor Drive. The first person to hit a target with an ammunition projectile was George Washington Morrison.
Evansville, Indiana is a small city in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 54,856 at the 2010 census. Evansville is the county seat of Vanderburgh County and has a population of over 120,000 people as well as an agricultural sector that employs about 60% of the workforce. When Indiana became a state in 1816, Evansville continued to serve as its capital until Indianapolis was established in 1824 as part of territorial government under US control following Mexican War peace treaties ending Mexico's possessions in North America west of Mexico City. From 1840 until 1845, Evanston Township (northwest side) was home to Fort Dearborn which served as garrison for westward expansionist American forces during Indian Wars fought against Native Americans living east of what is now Chicago Heights and Norwood Park neighborhoods near today's Old National Highway 44 (US 6), which skirts downtown Evansville from northwest to southeast along Third Street NW before terminating at I-465 just south of Downtown Indy's east wall near Market Square SW corner NE; while much later Northwest Side Evanston Township (southwest side) became home to Northwestern Illinois College adjacent today's parts owned by Purdue University north across I-465 from downtown Indianapolis' south wall near Seventh Street SW corner NE). In 1850 then-Governor George Bird Tapp transferred ownership/garrisoning responsibility for Fort Dearborn eastward along Third Street NW from Northwest Side Evanston Township (southwest side) into newly formed Vanderburgh County; thus ending long history within each township where different portions served different purposes while eastside Evanston Township still remains unincorporated into any current county although frequently included within urban areas neighboring it such as Old National Highway 44 corridor including Downtown Indy proper whereas southwest side Evanston Township now serves largely agricultural functions primarily with some commercial development taking place there since land use changes following incorporation have greatly diminished this once predominant southwestern edge portion's isolation from nearby residential areas primarily inside or just northeast/northwest suburban bordering cities like NoblesVILLE and Aurora IL
Gun target history is long and varied. From the very early days of firearms, there were efforts to create targets that could be hit with cannons and rifles. In 1668, a group of Dutch gunners set out to design a target that could be accurately hit with their cannons. They came up with the concept of a “bullet” target, which was made from an iron ball and shot filled with lead. The firstguns were used for hunting game, not for military purposes. However, over time the use of guns in warfare began to change. Gunnery became more important as artillery became more advanced and available to armies around the world. The first real use of artillery on battlefields took place during World War I when British forces utilized French-madeFUBAR (French anti-aircraft guns) against German aircraft carriers off the coast of France. The Frenchmen were able to shoot down two German planes using these weapons before they could land or take off! This was an impressive feat at the time, but it wasn’t the only successful engagement between artillery and aircraft during World War I. During World War II, both Nazi Germany and Japan used large numbers of anti-aircraft guns in order to defend their airspace from Allied bombers and fighters alike. These weapons proved effective at destroying enemy planes before they could reach their destination or cause any damage – something that was particularly useful given how far away most airfields were from actual battlefields! One particular type ofanti-aircraft gun known as a Zuni was especially effective at combating fighter jets in battle scenarios; this weapon helped pilots avoid being shot down by enemy aircraft while trying to attack them from close range! Today, many people still enjoy shooting at traditional gun targets through various means such as Trap Shooting or Archery; however, bombing campaigns like those experienced during World War II are now considered historical events that should be commemorated by all who participated in them!

Evansville is home to the University of Evansville, one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Indiana. The city is also the birthplace of another large university, Purdue University.
