Laser sights are a type of sighting system that use lasers to direct the fire of a rifle or shotgun. The laser beam is focused on the target and then used to calculate the aiming point. This information is send back to the shooter through a communication device, such as a headset, and then he can adjust his aim accordingly. Laser sights were first developed in Elkhart, Indiana in the early 1970s by two men named Bill Anderson and Gary Barger. These devices involved using an electronic microscope to view images of targets at different distances and blinded them with light so they could not see where the laser was pointing. After many years of development, these initial devices were finally released in 1984 as the Laser Sighted Rifle (LSR). The LSR was designed for use with American-made firearms such as shotguns and rifles, but it has been adopted by other countries including Russia, China, Spain, Italy and others. Today there are countless versions of laser sights available on the market that cater to specific firearm specifications. Some common features include red dot sight designs which allow shooters to easily see their target at close range while wearing glasses or sunglasses; illuminated reticles which allow for night shooting; adjustable windage and elevationadjusted turrets; multiple magnification levels; white noise grenades which emit sound when fired; and even built-in lasers which can be activated during live firing if desired.

The Elkhart, Indiana area was home to some of the first laser sights in the United States. In 1976, a group of individuals led by Dr. Neal Henderson designed and built the Laser Sighting System (LSS) for use on rifles at the now defunct Elkhart Army Depot. The LSS used an infrared light projector to place a dot on a target and track it with a camera. This technology was later adapted and used on other military installations around the country.

The name "Elkhart" comes from an Indian word meaning "place where pines grow." The area that now makes up Elkhart was first settled by French fur traders and their descendants in 1788. In 1814, General David Wilkinson founded what would become Elkhart County and named it for George Washington Elkins, his assistant on the Treaty of Paris following the American Revolution. In 1846, when Congress created Kosciusko County, it included all present-day elkhanate (now east) central Indiana as well as Kosciusko County north of I-64 and east of Wabash River within its boundaries. The eastern boundary was changed by admission of Knox Township into Kosciusko County on November 3, 1872; this left current western half of Elkhart unincorporated with a population of 602 as per 1910 census data. However much land had been transferred from Knox Township to Kosciusko County since its creation – more than double what remains today – so this newly constituted county only had a popuation size of 2,083 in 1930."2010 US Census: Historical Population Statistics", United States Census Bureau In 1932 there were 711 people living in Pottertowns while 1123 people lived in New Albany; these towns merged to form one new town called "Elkhart". The original townspeople retained ownership and control over their homes until 1978 when they sold them all back to the government for development purposes - once again putting an end to municipal consolidation across Cook County! It's no wonder that residents have nicknamed their little city home "The City That Could". Some things never change here... like good ol' fashioned flatbread pizza!

Elkhart, Indiana is a small town in Elkhart County, Indiana. The population was 9,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Elkhart, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Elkhart County were Native Americans who lived on the Ottawa River. One group of these early settlers, the Piankeshawas, built their destroyed village on land they had purchased from the French in 1763. The French also sold them other tracts of land in and around present-day Elkhart Township and Olney Township. In 1812, General David Hunter named one of his battlefields "Elkhart" after a small stream that flowed through his estate near modern day Elkhart Heights. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson awarded General John Custer a battlefield commission for his role in Battle of Little Bighorn which occurred just east of present-day Elkhardt Township. When Hoosier Territory was created in 1827, it included most of present-day central and easternIndiana; including much of what is now Elkhart County). As part as part of this new territory, an act approved by the United States Congress on February 24th, 1830 vested authority to build jails with “a specific jail for each township” within five years – an authorization that eluded local governments until 1836 when they were finally given permission to construct county jails by Act #2 (9 Statutes 3 & 4) signed into law by President James K. Polk on December 5th! This legislation followed upon increased calls for more correctional resources due to the slave trade and its impact on social stability throughout Eastern Indiana during the 1830s and 1840s; while also providing impetus for public works projects such as roads and bridges acrossstate lines! A plaque located at current-day Fort Wayne’s Soldiers Memorial Park commemorates America’s First Lawyer – George Washington Carver – who began practicing law here back in 1847! Over time many famous people have made an appearance or been honored here including: Governor Martin Van Buren (1852-1857), Ulysses S. Grant (1865-1869), William McKinley (1901-1908), Franklin D Roosevelt (1935-1945), Harry S Truman (1945-)…the list goes on! Today many businesses and organizations callElkhart home such as Purdue University Pharma., Eli Lilly & Co., American Midstream Partners LP., IMAX Corporation,, Harley Davidson Inc., EMC Corporation,, etc….The city has experienced some growth since its incorporation as a community in 1984 with plans to add over 100 jobs over 10 years! ElkhART has always been known for its corn maze attraction called "Maze Madness!"
On November 1, 1824, the first township in Elkhart Township was organized. The town of Elkhart was platted on September 12, 1827 by James Fenton and it became a full-time government on October 3rd. The first post office in what is now Elkhart Township was established on October 3rd, 1827. The first school in what is now Elkhart Township was also established on October 3rd,1827. Elkhart Township became a city on December 15th, 1917.
