After the war ended, many African Americans were brought into Eastern Chicago as slaves and founded what is now known as "The Black Community" within its limits; this period is often referred to as "The Gilded Age" of American slavery because much wealth was generated from slave labor. In 1920–1921, EasternChicago became part of newly created Racine County; at that time it consisted mostly of agricultural areas along Lake Michigan's eastern edge and included only a few scattered businesses around downtown. However, Racine County's growth potential soon warranted establishment of a county courthouse and other government services in downtown East Chicago; this also helped spur development along Pennsylvania Avenue NW which remains today one of America's most affluent neighborhoods despite being majority black since 1940 due to rising property values attributed thereto throughout much of Greater Milwaukee Area following World War II displacing Polish-American inhabitants). Downtown Warsaw became home to several large companies such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Jardine Matheson & Co., McCormick & McLaughlin etc.; while other businesses relocated away due primarilyto difficult economic times during those years including: Armour Manufacturing Company relocation out west (now Wauwatosa), General Electric moving their operations south (later Wisconsin Dells) into new facilities on Menasha Road near Green Bay WI then relocating back up river into old production site located just outside Milwaukee proper before closing shop all together finally IBEW Local #27 moves their plant across street from original Goodyear factory which closed down some 40 years ago

In 1970,EastChicago merged with neighboring town Westchester to form one large city called "East Chicago."
