The Crown Point Shooting Club was chartered on December 5, 1892. The club is located in the heart of Crown Point, Indiana and has been meeting monthly ever since. It is one of only a few shooting clubs in America that still meets on an annual basis. The first shooting event held at the club was a Model 1895 rifle competition. In 1916, the club started hosting matches with shotguns and pistols. In 1929, the club became affiliated with the National Rifle Association (NRA). At this time it began to offer NRA classes and meetings for members of the community. For many years, it served as an important link between local gun enthusiasts and NRA members across America. In 1984, Crown Point renamed itsclub “Crown Point Sporting Goods” in order to broaden their appeal to a wider audience. This move did not go well with some of the original members who felt that this change diminished their importance within the organization. However, today over 2,000 people from around town come together every month for shoots at our range!

Crown Point is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. Crown Point is located in the tiny town of Noblesville and is part of the Noblesville-Munster Micropolitan Statistical Area. It lies on the eastern edge of what used to be called "the Indian country". The first white man to settle Crown Point was Nicholas Ballou, who built a cabin in 1818. He named his settlement after himself and his father-in-law, Sir George Croghan. The first post office was established in 1819, and it remained in operation until 1907. In 1828, John Silliman set up a store here and started trading with Indians from Illinois. In 1840, he married Anna Maria Hoadly; together they founded the Hoadly family grocery store which still stands today. In 1848–49, when settlers began moving into this area from north central Indiana by wagon train, they erected buildings around Silliman's store for their new homes. Many of these structures still stand today—a good example being the old courthouse complex (now known as Crownpoint Municipal Building). In 1861–62 during the American Civil War, Crown Point became an important military supply depot for General Sherman's Union army campaign against Confederate forces near Mobile Bayou. After Confederate General Robert Ewing surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865, most of Crown Point sided with Union troops over Governor Morton's pro-Confederate forces and remaining civilians were forced to flee or surrender their homes to Union forces under General Ulysses S Grant. Today much of what once constituted Indian country in Crown Point has been developed into residential areas such as Noblesville and Munster which make up part of "the Indian country" that is still owned by Native Americans according to state law.. Some sites within Indian Country continue to be occupied by Native Americans including sacred ground known as Tatanka Ponds where people have gathered for ceremonies since prehistory; hunting grounds where traditional activities are conducted such as bowhunting and pigeon shooting;aseries used for raisinglivestock;and some abandoned log cabins that remain evidence of early pioneer life hereabouts
