Crown Point is a city in, and the county seat of, Dunkirk Township, in Union County, Indiana. The population was 6,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Muncie–Purdue metropolitan area. The first settler in Crown Point was Nicholas Brown on April 12, 1814. The town was platted on July 12, 1826 by John Dickey and James Aiken under the name "Dunkirk". The town became a village on October 5, 1892. On January 3, 1911, it became a city. The city is named after King George III of Great Britain who was born there on July 16th 1765. In 1830 crown point had a population of 375 people and it grew to 810 by 1840 but then decreased to 555 people by 1850 due to larger towns around it being platted and developing faster than Crown Point. However during this time period other parts of Indiana also started growing so that within 10 years Crown Point would have an estimated 2,000 residents which would make it one of the fastest growing cities in Indiana during this time period! In 1861 when Uniontown (now Evansville) was founded near Crown Point there were only 100 residents living there as well as 1 store which closed within 3 months because no goods could be brought in from outside without paying taxes! By 1870 there were over 1200 residents living in both towns with CrownPoint becoming known for its pottery industry until 1978 when all production stopped due to competition from cheaperMade In America products! It wasn’t until 1990 when new technology made ceramic manufacturing possible once again giving Crownpoint some breathing room back into the local economy! Today the city has several small businesses that provide jobs for locals as well as many large companies that call Crownpoint home including Motorola Solutions and IBM ! Today we continue to enjoy excellent public schools system with two high school sports teams each year as well as world-renowned Purdue University located just down the street from our doorstep serving up top notch education opportunities for our students!

Crown Point is an unincorporated community in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. It is located on the south bank of the White River. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1818 by Drury and others as a trading post on the White River. Crown Point had a post office from 1825 to 1865. The town was moved to its present location in 1869. The first settler at Crown Point was John Denton who arrived in 1818 and built a cabin on the east side of the river. He named his settlement after himself, crown point being where he thought his estate would be situated should he find success as a trader on the river. In 1840, George Stephenson erected a sawmill across from Crown Point and began producing lumber for settlers and merchants along the southern banks of the White River. By 1850, over 100 people lived in Crown Point with mills and several churches serving their needs. By 1860, all but one of those mills had been closed due to competition from larger mills west of Indianapolis including Lucas Brothers Lumber Company which established itself in that year with two branches – one near South Bend and another near Evansville – making it one of largest such companies west of Chicago. crown point also boasted an excellent flour mill which produced high-quality flour for local markets until it went out of business around 1870 some time during prohibition era . The white settlement at Crown Point gradually changed over time as Indian tribes living along both sides of the river began raids into what now comprises Hancock County so early settlements were not immune to this problem since they could only protect themselves by moving away from potential raiding parties or building fortified camps which becamelater known as ghost towns . In fact, there are still several sites within about 1 mile (1 kilometer) radius today where Indian raids took place against Dutch colonists who were then traveling through that area looking for trade goods during this period before turning back when they realized these villages were unprotected In 1692 while road construction was under way between Fort Wayne and Kokomo we found 3 dead frenchmen scalped & 6 French women captives taken we killed 3 more & drove off all Indians we found us selves Situated about 8 miles (12 kilometers) northwest from Fort Wayne on our main route to Illinois As Marcy Cook stated “the fortifications being very strong for wantonly Creating great Exposures unto theme [the French] Captives said They not Wished To Live So Near A Place That We Could Not Kill Them” However even after multiple attacks by French forces driving them back overland several times , they ultimately decided against returning further downriver until ceded lands became available upstream After much negotiation treaty negotiations finally resulted in France ceding land upriver reaching Clearwater Lake beyond present day Hancock Countyline giving rise to what is now called Crownpoint Township although most individuals associated with this community incorrectly assumed this name given its proximity to Ft Wayne prior to its incorporation into Hancock County

In 1814, a group of American soldiers under General Anthony Wayne landed at Crown Point to overthrow the Indian chief Tecumseh. The city was looted and burned by the Native Americans before finally being taken over by American forces after their victory.
