Crown Point,Indiana was founded in 1805 by Nicholas Crown and his families. The town became an important center for rifle production due to its location on the Indiana River and its close proximity to the then-new firearms factory at Fort Wayne. Rifle stocks were a critical part of these factories’ operations, and the production of rifles here helped contribute to Crown Point’s prominence as a manufacturing center in the early 19th century. Rifle stocks first began appearing on firearms throughout Europe in the mid-19th century, but they were only slowly adopted into American society. It wasn’t until after Indian Wars that rifle stocks made their appearance on vast majority of American Agrarian guns (guns used by farmers for self-defense). In 1855, Major General George Armstrong Custer led an army through central Indiana during the final stages of his War with Mexico. While visiting Crown Point, he saw firsthand how rifle stocks had been instrumental in helping soldiers victory over Mexican forces. As a result, he ordered local manufacturer James Totten to begin producing rifles with stock attachments specifically designed for cavalry use. This development would later lead to mass production of riflestocks across America. During World War II, many Crown Point residents volunteered their time and resources towards building munitions plants adjacent to their townspeople’s homes. These factories produced everything from bombs to tanks and artillery pieces – all whileproducing weapons that were essential for war effort overall. Today, most of these munitions plants are long gone – but their legacy lives on in Crown Point itself as one of America’s leading manufacturing centers once again!

The first European to visit Crown Point was Nicholas de Champlain in 1608. In 1792, the area was part of a small Indian village called Wabash. A group of Englishmen led by Colonel Henry Dearborn erected a trading post at Crown Point in 1795, and named it for Prince George, Duke of York and Albany (later King George III). The post served as a market and transportation hub for goods arriving from Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as trade with Native Americans. In 1814,Indian war chief Tecumseh organized a revolt against Ulysses S. Grant's command during the Mexican–American War. in which many members of Crown Point's white community died or were captured. With few exceptions, all white settlement ceased after the surrender at Buena Vista Hill on December 12, 1846.
Crown Point is a small town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. Crown Point is located on the eastern edge of Kosciusko County and straddles the border of Lake Michigan to the south. The first permanent European settlers in Crown Point were French Canadian traders who arrived in 1795. They named their new settlement after King George III of Britain, because he had been given land by France for his services in that war. The first settler was Pierre-Jean Parenteau, who came from Quebec and established a ferry service across the Chicago River between Crown Point and Kankakee (then known as Monroe Township). In 1814–1815, David Mclntyre built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. In 1828, John Beardsley purchased 2½ miles (3 km) of land east of present-day Main Street and laid out a township which became Crown Point Township on April 6, 1830. Beardsley donated this land to the Indiana General Assembly for use as a military reservation designated for Fort Wayne soldiers during the late 1812 War with Canada. After Illinois statehood in 1818, government officials decided to move Indian Territory northward into Kosciusko County so that more people could be grain growers and surveyors rather than live near Native Americans who were still using their traditional hunting grounds. So on November 12, 1824 – three years before Indiana became an independent country – Governor James Muhlenberg issued an executive order setting aside 4 square miles (10 km2) along present-day Lower Michigan Avenue as Indian Territory “for general purposes” under the jurisdiction of Congress but without any obligation from its residents or officials responsible for its administration or management; it would remain “uninhabited except by Indians” until it was automatically ceded back to them by Congress when they organized as states under Article I section 8 of the Constitution on March 3, 1865 A day later (November 13), Muhlenberg ordered all citizens within this area west of Clinton Road “to bring up their families there until taken possession by our Government [of India]” if they did not want to become subjects or settlers within America The area around present-day Crown Point became part of Kosciusko County when it was created from parts of Monroe Township on December 12th 1800 . On July 10th 1853 , crown point post office opened

In 1870, crown point again became one of three townships when it merged with adjoining villages; however, it remained separate from Fort Wayne until 1889 when it became part of the city limits. In 1902-1903, crown point experienced a significant floods that destroyed much property downstream and left many people homeless. The floods also caused economic losses for the town as well as extensive damage to infrastructure such as bridges and roads. Afterward, some reconstruction efforts were undertaken but this timeframe did not result in lasting change to local government or economy; instead it signified an overall decline for crownpoint during this time period . However, following several years of growth and development starting around World War II (the era during which CrownPoint experienced major growth), there has been noticeable visible progress which has seen permanent redevelopment taking place on several key streetscapes including Main Street and School Road; these have helped create new jobs opportunities for locals while preserving older structures within the community center/neighborhood core . Crown Point is a town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. Crown Point was founded in 1827 by Peter Jennings and Associates as the site of an Indian trading post on the Western Reserve. The post was abandoned in 1830 after Indian hostilities ended and Jennings' partners failed to find another location for it. In 1834, Jennings moved his business to what is now downtown Crown Point and founded the first school in Hancock County. In 1836, he married Anna Maria White. TheJenningses built a log cabin near today's intersection of State Street and Post Road to serve as their home until they acquired a more permanent structure in 1840. They also built a gristmill which became known as "The Old Mill". Their children, John Quincy Adams Jennings (1846-1926), wife Esther Elizabeth Drury (1850-1938) and son Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.(1851-1943) all served in the United States Senate from New York City from 1917 to 1925; one term each.
